I am a US Citizen, my (non US citizen) Husband just received his CR 1 visa to the US along with a brown envelope. Who knows what's in this evelope? And what do we do with it? Are we required to fill anything ele while in the USA or do we just hand inthe brown envelope and wait to receive the temporary green card? Do we have to wait in the USA for him to receive his temporary Green card or can we receive it by mail in the USA? (we might have to leave for a business trip and are worried that we won't be able to leave without the temporary green card already in our hands?

Can anyone clarify the above for me?

Thank you so much!

You will have to wait.....several months, at least. Nothing will be sent to you until you apply for the green card etc.

Once the two of you are together in the U.S., your husband can apply for the temporary green card (Adjustment of Status), Employment Authorization Document (EAD), http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis/men...00045f3d6a1RCRD

Simultaneously apply for Advance Parole, to allow him to travel outside the USA and return legally. http://www.visajourney.com/wiki/index.php/Advance_Parole

NO old dominion is incorrect, they are CR1 they do not have to adjust status. As far as I know, you don't open the brown envelope and hand it over at POE. They stamp your passport with a I-551 stamp which will serve as a temporary green card. you can leave if you must.
