Fight at your wedding reception

Ok so my sister in law just got married to this guy on Saturday. She's only 19 years old and the guy treats the family, and her, like ####### (nor can he keep a job for longer than 6 months). Anyway besides the point. Before the wedding all they did was fight over the STUPIDEST things! For example, my SIL's cat would be in the living room and she'd pet her and say "Hey baby" and he would get really mad cause HE was her baby which caused a fight. Or they'd fight over who has the first sip of coffee or if she was hanging out at our house he would call her and make her come home cause he wanted a back rub (she lives 30 mins away) like ridiculous things!

Anyway, at their wedding reception they barely spoke to each other cause they were having a fight, and I was just wondering, did you and your spouse fight/argue/have a heated discussion at your wedding reception? I know we didn't and I have never heard of anyone who has, I just wanted to know if maybe I am just hiding under a rock and its a common thing to have a spat at your own wedding.....

no no and no..

We have never really had a heated argument.. at all.. those days are long since over for us.. we had all those in our first marriages and have settled down considerably since then. We do disagree and miscommunicate, but it's different now.. we treat each other with respect and consideration and the "but what about meeeeeeee" stuff is not there anymore.. (thank goodness)

Can't believe anybody still act like that. I feel sorry for your SIL.

We did not fight at the reception. Not aware of anybody do that on their wedding reception either.

No we did not fight.

Your SIL's husband sounds like a loser. She's probably a loser for marrying him.

pretty much. she's the kind of girl that goes for idiots, though. He claims to have self esteem issues and "feels like he will never be good enough" (his excuse for not wanting to find a job and stuff) so she felt she had to "save" him. Fourth guy she's had to "Save from himself" since I married her brother 3 years ago.

And there are many men who go for the "damsel in distress" as well.

No for me, but I did go to a wedding once, where the bride's father got in a fight with the best man because he was too 'forward' with the bride's 17 year old sister. It was already well into the evening, people were quite toasty....it was a fun wedding up to that point. The argument began on the dance floor when the father 'noticed' that the best man was dancing too close to the sister. Words were exchanged, it escalated, the groom got involved (the best man was the grooms childhood friend). The fight spilled out of the reception hall into the parking lot. It was horrifying, but hilarious at the same time. There was the bride crying, wringing her hands and furiously alternating between trying to stop her father AND her husband from throwing punches. Both were of course ignoring her and fighting on...at least they thought that's what they were doing...but instead it was a lot of grappling, spinning (missed punches) and loudmouthing. It was funny.

ok I admit it. We had a "discussion" at our reception. Someone approached hubby during the reception that there was no white wine, and asked him for money to buy some- during our reception! We had pretty much all the beverages one can imagine at the reception (including red wine and champagne) but this lady wanted white wine. So Hubby gave in and gave her one of the envelopes with cash we got for the wedding. She spent the whole $300 on expensive wine and no one but her drank it! :girlwerewolf2xn:

Hubby made the mistake of telling me, and there was my bridezilla moment! We have a great picture of me pouting, hubby looking slightly distressed and MIL trying to arbitrate between us.
