Who's actually SEEN the Da Vinci Code? What did you think of it?

The reason it could potentially shatter someone's faith, is because for Jesus to have fathered a lineage makes him not God or something like that-minister talked about it on Sunday. Personally, I don't really care if he had kids or not, EXCEPT for the fact that it might cause me to wonder why it wasn't in the Bible, and essentially discredit the Bible for me. But it was made evident that this was a work of fiction and it had numerous historical inaccuracies so it's not really bugging me at all.

i have not seen it..wait for the dvd version..but, as for the protestors..if your faith is so shallow and fragile that this is a threat..the problem is within you..

Peace to All creatures great and small............................................

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).

It's not about the faith being shallow...it's about removing the divinity from Jesus-essentially, He was nothing more than a common man...I wish I could remember how it was explained yesterday. I know what I'm saying doesn't make a lot of sense.

The movie itself existing does not bother me(tho I don't plan to see it)...but the part that bothers me is people who don't remember the book/movie is fiction and walk away actually believing the movie as doctrine. Whether or not the catholic church is offended is a different matter. For me the real annoyance is people believing the movie as fact.

And already I know of many people who suddenly actually believe what the fiction book told them and take is as real...."ooooh did you hear Jesus was really married????Da vinci code says so!" Oh, yeah and hobbits are really real too. :P I loved Lord of the rings, but I didn't start believing hobbits actually were real.

Stina, the problem is that this is in a genre known as historical fiction, which by nature, incorporates just enough historical fact, that to some people, it may actually be believable.

it's not all the catholics.. mainly the crazy Opus Dei dudes..

I love summarizing lines like this one... some people are just great nailing the point of the discussion.

I read the book, and I want to see the movie, even though I know I will be dissapointed (usually I am, books are so much better). And I dont think it hurts at all the faith of the catholics, it just shows a bad side of the Opus Dei.

Being the Opus Dei an almost clandestine organization, very selective and fanatic... I think it just pushed the wrong buttons of some people....

Again, what do I know of history, Opus Day... or anything at all... :)

Ahhhhh, but then if it DOES make someone question their faith, is that a BAD thing???? ;)

Might then then lead to more quetioning and is that exactly what some religions might not want....just a thought...
