Been thinking ahead before I send off the I-129F Petition. Dont want to recieve any RFE's

You must send copies of both divorce decrees for the petitioner and the benificiary. If one is in a foriegn language does it need to be translated? After searching the USCIS website for instructions I could not find the answer.

I assume it does not. Anybody had an RFE for an official document to be translated? Like divorce papers.

Thanks, I will translate it.

But for the sake of conversation. I find it strange the USCIS does not have personel to read foriegn documents especially when they are issued by soverign state or country. Their job is dealing with people of different cultures and languages.

To be sarcastic I guess I could translate a real estate document into a divorce document. Who would know? Oh yes the Notary Stamp....................that person wouldn't know either.

Just thinking out loud............

Well, I don't know how it works somewhere else, but here in Croatia we have notary publics, but also court translaters (there's also some other term for that, but it escapes me at the moment) who are in charge of translating any and all documents that are to be used for purposes like this. Their stamp is the same as a notary's, except that, well, they're fluent in languages they translate to, or from.

A document translated from or to any language, by, say, me and stamped by a notary public would not be considered valid in these parts of the world. Even if it's a language insanely similar to Croatian that most of us here speak or read with no problems at all.
