Lawyers and "green"card

Hello Wonder-Full VJ Peops,

So I wonder and I wonder...

at this point I feel like my case is collecting cobwebs on some bureaucrat's desk.

What to do...

Being that almost everyone around me has been approved for their permanent residency card (2 yr. conditional green card), it gets me thinking.

Would hiring an immigration lawyer at this point help at all?

What could they do?

What can I do?

My sweetie wrote to the IL congressman and no response (of course).

I know it has not been that long, and I have been noticing that most people have taken only 3 months to their approvals.

Please know that patience is not my forté.

Ha!

Funny-looking card arrives – September 6th, 2008 :)

Mailed request to remove conditions – July 7, 2010

Landed permanent resident approved – August 23rd, 2010

Second funny looking card arrives – August 31st, 2010

When you said IL congressman I hope you meant US congressman from the state of IL... The congressman to the IL state capital cannot help you... The senator also needs to be the US senator (currently Obama and/or ????)

It's great to know I'll be in good company once we've filed our AOS/EAD/AP. I am starting to chomp at the bit due to boredom. :lol:

April 13, 2009 - Welcome to the USA letter rec'd. PRC to be rec'd within 3 weeks.

April 16, 2009 - 2 yr GC rec'd in mail.

March 2, 2011 - Mailed in I-751 to CSC

March 4, 2011 - I-751 delivered to CSC

March 4, 2011 - NOA issued

March 12, 2011 - NOA received

April 14, 2011 - BIO Appt 5/6/11

May 6, 2011 - BIO done in 10 minutes...no re-takes this time :)

June 27, 2011 - Email rec'd "Status - Approved"

July 1, 2011 - 10 yr GC arrived

All my lawyer did was take $3000 for his services. He did nothing except send the forms in for AOS/AP/EAD and come with us to our interview which lasted ten minutes. Worst money waster ever.

We used a lawyer for our cr-1 (before we found VJ and an USA immigration official said it was nearly impossible to do on ur own,lol) but she stated she had no super powers to make things faster, no special "ins"

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied,that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1
