I'm going to petition for my Mom in the Philippines but my birth certificate has an error which is the birth order. I'm afraid that this will affect my petition.

Does anyone has the same experience?

Don't you think the birth order error can take affect my petition?

Do I need to get this corrected before I can petition my Mom?

thanks

i really don't have any idea if it would matter...i think all USCIS or NVC looks at is that in your birth cert she is listed as your mother...

my mom's name in my birth cert has a different spelling... in my birth cert her name has only one R, but in her birth cert it has two R and that's what she's been using ever since ... i didn't have the spelling of my mom's name on my birth cert corrected... i just submitted it and if i get an rfe, then that's the time i will take action to have it corrected... never got an rfe for it... on mom's interview, i told her to prepare two affidavits of disinterested persons regarding that different spelling on our birth cert... just in case it would come up...the issue never came up... i don't know if they just didn't see the different spelling or they just didn't care...

so it's really up to you if you want to just go ahead and petition and hope for the best or correct it now...

personally, i would go ahead and file...

good luck...

Honestly, I just check my BC and it's not only the birth order is the error but also the type of birth and If multiple birth, child was...

i guess, this is kinda complicated. I'm planning to go in the Philippines next year and hoping I can have this things fix.

Hi guys! Im new to this forum and about to file a petition for my parents this week. My case is "almost" straight-forward except that my father have no birth record with NSO. So I asked my father to get an affidavit from 2 people and school record which now I have in my possesion. I am now assembling the application and wondering if I should send the above mention documents even though it is not part of the checklist they have on USCIS website. I know that USCIS will check with NSO about my father's record, I just dont know when. will it be when the petition is with the service center? or with NVC? or with US embassy in Manila?

I would really appreciate any type of input you guys can give me.

Thanks!

i have the same case with you, my grandfather who is 76 years old has no birth record in nso because he was registered late. but the municipal hall in our province sent a copy to nso. his birth cert. is not the usual birth cert for those who were not on late registry. but it is still in nso paper with a caption that it is late registry.

destiny belongs to those who believe in their dreams and have the courage to really pursue it!

dont stop when you're tired, stop when you are done!
