Now you can encourage her to exercise her "privilege" being a citizen to "vote" this coming election. Some of my friends sadly told me this (and I think they should NOT be granted their citizenship for such behavior) "Who cares about voting? If you register to vote, then your name will be on the pool for the county potential juror selection. Waste of time if you ask me."

Remember, lots of people sacrificed their lives so we can live in peace and VOTE!

Congrats by the way!!

Actually regardless if you vote or not, you will still be a potential juror selection. I've never voted in my life, just coz I thought that was true, that if you vote, you will serve on the database for jury duty. But its just an urban legend and I recently received jury notice and learned they get it now from paying taxes not from voting... So go exercise your vote as I am too since I will get called for jury duty regardless if my name appears on the voters database or not..

Hard to believe that anyone would not exercise their right to vote as I have voted every single election since I was old enough. It is the most basic right that we have that means so much.

But again since so many do not vote then that means that my vote means more and everyone gets who I say we should have and so on.

I am exercising my right to vote which is not to vote.. Why would I vote if I dont like any of the candidates? I dont complain who is in our government, if I did, then I would be voting to put a qualified person in our government....

My wife received jury duty notice a few months back (1 month after filing her first taxes)....had a great laugh over that one! And then spent the next 3 hours explaining the US court process, democracy in general, and how laws are created. (And btw- thank god for Youtube and schoolhouse rock cuz I was never good at Civics in school, but always loved a good cartoon song!)

Once she understood the irony of the situation she had a good laugh...and then asked me if she could go anyway :bonk: Needless to say, I'm currently loading my netflix queue with every courtroom movie I can think of in preparation
