Hi All,

I got a letter from NVC today that my wife's case was assigned to Chennai consulate. But she resides in Pune which comes under Mumbai consulate and this is what I indicated in I-129F. I was a native of AP and our mmarriage took place in AP which comes under Chennai consulate.

So my question is - does NVC always forwards the packet to the consulate govering the marriage location, not where the spouse currently resides? Please let me know your opinion. Also I am wondering if I should call NVC and aks them to look into this. Any information will be helpful. Thanks.

I have exact question to how we can change consulate to our favor.

Last week I called NVC and ask the question. She said your case hasn't been received by NVC yet, but we give you embassy base on availibility. I don't know what exactly determines that but I hope they give me the right one.

Keep us posted if you called tomorrow and got some answers.

Thank you

Yes Pune definitely falls under Mumbai Consulate. I dont think marriage location matters infact most Marriage certificate doesn't even list locations. You should call them and clarify that she lives here and want a case # from Mumbai...starting with BMB. Changing a consulate becomes tricky as its just not change of location but change of CASE #.

I cant imagine trouble your wife mite have to go thru if they dont change it.. especially since she's in Pune. It has to be Mumbai only.

Good luck....

NVC has not receieved my USCIS case yet, should I call and make sure about this or should I email.

Would that cause any problem?
