Dear VJ members,

I am wondering about the vaccinations that are to be done for the immigration process. If I had Measels should I still get the MMR as I understood MMR stands for Measels,Mumps,Rubella? And what documentation shuold I provide for my vaccination history as I never had a chart like that.I heard something called Titre Test which they do to find our immunization. Is that chargeable at local NHS ?Do I get MMR vaccinations too if I approach the GP?

Thanks for the guidance guys!!!

You're going to have to document or get the shots. If the Titre shows you have immunity, then that's your documentation. Many people end up getting MMR and tetnus booster for sure or the Tdap, Dtap...I forgot the order of the letters. My fiance is older and hasn't had need for an immunization record for years and didn't have one. His NHS doctor's office compiled one for him by looking through their records. Don't know if you've been to the same doctor's office since childhood and could get a record that way. NHS did give him the shots I mentioned at no charge. Chickenpox wasn't in his record, but he told the nurse the date his mum said he had the disease and she took his word for it and wrote it down.

NHS does not have to give you immigration jabs for free, but some will as did my fiance's doctor. So I guess this didnt fully answer your question, but maybe gave you some information. Also he took the MMR even though he had measles or one of those three as a child.

For my MMR I have to get two doses, they have to be 4 weeks apart my 2nd is on the 2nd of September. Just for your information.

Make an appointment with your local Doctors surgery and ask for the nurse, he/she will be able to tell you exactly what you can get for free, I think if you work you may be more likely to have to pay, (I am a student so I got it free) but sometimes they will give it free regardless.

If you are female and within a certain age range don't forget about the HPV vaccine. You'll will more than likely be charged for this (though I believe someone got it on the NHS) as it's usually only given to 11/12 year olds. But it is best to check with your surgery.
