CITIZENSHIP

11/08/08 - Sent N-400 application to become a citizen to VERMONT

How did you manage that, that date is three months from now. The instructions for either the N-400 and N-600 clearly states what these form are for, briefly the N-400 is for a LPR applying for naturalization, have to be one for three years if marriage, or five years without. N-600 is for kids born out of country with a UCS parent, quite a difference.

He just use DD/MM/YY format. So what he means from above is August 11, 2008 from 11/08/08.

In the military besides a 24 hour clock, we used 11Aug2008 for the date, ha, just about a few of the things that made sense.

N400 is used to apply for citizenship

N600 is used to get a Certificate of Citizenship if you are already a citizen by virtue of your parent being a USC.

For example, I just filed the N400. If I am approved and take oath as a USC before my son turns 18, he will become a USC automatically. He can then file the N600 if he wants to get a certificate of citizenship (aside from getting a US passport).
