So we are still waiting for packet 4 with his interview date to arrive. Meanwhile I am here and 3 weeks away from my due date. He would like to be here for the birth but I am worried that he will have problems crossing the border (from Canada) . Has anyone had any experience with crossing the Canadian border while waiting for the interview? Thanks

Nicole

I can't say anything from personal experience as far as the border goes, but I would most definitely advise he not say he's coming here for the birth of his child. That would probably be a definite no go :S He should always be prepared with proof of his ties to Canada (lease agreement, letter from employer, etc) to decrease his chance of being denied entry.

He shouldn't mention the interview NOR the arrival of your baby. What reasons has he used before to cross the border? They worked before, and he proved he would return home. Carrying the papers that show he has strong roots in Canada will indeed help, and also that he doesn't plan to stay very long in the US...the same as a long weekend perhaps?

You will get lots of advice in the Canadian regional forum. ;)

Don't offer anything more than you need to but if asked, always tell the truth. ;)

Yep, he should NOT mention the engagement or birth. A vacation to visit friends ahould be fine. So long as he has documents that show his ties to canada.
