A couple of questions:

-Once the NVC sends my husband the: DS3032 and afterwards the DS230

Does he have to fill them out and send them to me in U.S. so I can send them to the NVC or does he send them from his country ( Costa Rica) to the NVC?

Wouldn't it be a waist of time for him to send them to me and have me send them to the NVC?

-Documents to be sent in: Do all of these documents have to notarized also?

Does the police records have to be authenticated also?

Marrriage certificate- Authenticated and translated to English

Birth Certificate-Authenticated and Translated to English

Police Record- translated to English

Passport Biographic page

Lotos Shortcuts say to send in Originals and Copies, Is this necessary ? Should I also keep keep originals for the interview?

Thanks

Weeeeeird. I just called the AVR and heard the message "NVC received the affidavit of support fee bill on August 25 2008..." This is odd for 3 reasons:

1. That means the AVR updated on a Wednesday, so we can now officially say its not restricted to Tuesdays and Saturdays.

2. It still shows as 'In Process' on the website (possibly due to my double payment though).

3. I only just PAID it on the 25th...so that means they received it same day.

Not complaining though! Now if my hubby would only get here (he's due on Friday) I can get him to sign the I-864 and we can mail that package off!

It IS weird! After your post I called AVR also, but still " We have no record of your case...." That is really strange and bugging me. My case is in for a week, I already paid my AOS bill, but they never acknowledge that they have it according to AVR...

Could some one please tell me if my wife has to have a an original signature on the DS-230? Or wait for the interview? thanks appreciate it

NVC instruction says to not sign part II but you need to fill it up.

DS-230 Part II needs to be signed in front of the officer and actually in the form says the same thing. Part I needs to be signed.

DS3032 is only form can be sent through email for now. Most of other forms need to be original and signed. DS3032 is only an aknowledment for NVC for choice of Agent.

Once the NVC assigns me a number do they tell you what to do?

Well, NVC will tell you what to do as soon as they give you a number but if you follow them your case will take longer.

James shortcut and Loto's instruction were put together to reduce the processing time in NVC. Most of us here will follow those instruction. I suggest you to read them and ask questions.

Don't worry we will help you to make sure you will break a record for shortest time NVC has processed a case. :D

Good luck

Once the NVC assigns me a number do they tell you what to do?

They will send instructions in the mail, yes. The purpose of Loto's guide is to help you get through the NVC process as quickly as possible by having everything ready in advance to be sent immediately after the NVC initiates each process. If you wait to receive every item in the mail then it will have a significant impact on your NVC processing time.

Could some one please tell me if my wife has to have a an original signature on the DS-230? Or wait for the interview? And DS3032 the only document u can send online? And does anyone know if the Maiden name on the passport is still good? thanks for any replies

The DS-230, along with everything else, absolutely MUST have an original signature on part 1.. Otherwise the NVC will not process it and your case will be on hold until you submit another form with the original signature. Part 2, as previously stated, must be filled out completely, but UNSIGNED, as it must be signed infront of a consular officer at the time of your interview.

Yes, the DS-3032 is the only document that can be submitted online if the response is emailed.

I'm not 100% sure on the passport question. I had the same question at one point and was given mixed replies. Some say it doesn't matter, as your marriage certificate will link your names. Others say the passport must match the name as it appears on all other NVC paperwork. Personally I just requested a new one in my married name to be safe and avoid any possible issues. A rep at the NVC may be able to give you a more reliable answer, but I would speak to at least 2 reps to ensure their answers match (they're not known for consistency in their replies :P ).

IIN first attempt failed :D

She said" We just recieved your case today, IIN is not availbale yet" and then she goes"you will recieve a notification from us between 4-6 weeks"

She said"good luck to you"

*First issue that I have is, they gave me a case number with an embassy that we don't wish to go. We sent CSC request for change of embassy on the I-130 but apparently they didn't change it. now today, I emailed NVC with a new request. She said they will forward your request to the US consulate in Italy and ask them if they will accept our case.

We will see:d
