I got an email from my lawyer today telling me that I need to send him two money orders. One for $70, and one for $400. I assume that these are for the AOS and IV bill. But get this, they said to make it out to USCIS. I am 99% sure that these need to be made out to U.S. Department of State. Am I crazy?

Note:

Please fill out I-130, wait 6 months for approval, then 3 more months for an interview. (Unless of course we've bombed your country into the stone age, then you qualify for expedited processing.)

Here is my story. I've lived problem free life, payed my taxes. One day I decided to marry this girl. But to do so would require her to come to US of A, and so it started. My problem free live turned in to free problems from USCIS! Sure things turned to unsure, certain dates turned to aproximation within months. All logical thinking was out the door, as I filed my papers withing famous Vermont Centre!

I just got my hardcopy IV bill in the mail yesterday. It clearly states "made payable to: The Department of State".

CHD, my husband got his fingerprints done in minutes and they said the cert would be there in a week. Why not give the local RCMP a call and then see where they send you. It might not be as bad as it first appears.

What irks me is that so many people have gotten through with the same cert you used. It is ridiculous. It shouldn't be up to the luck of the draw like that.

I just got my hardcopy IV bill in the mail yesterday. It clearly states "made payable to: The Department of State".

CHD, I was in your situation all last week and this week till yesterday and I know how frustrated you might be but you should find a solution ASAP. Don't let it to take you down. I am sure there is an answer for this, either as MsZ said or you should call them up and ask or ask that question in Canadian forum(Ling LIng said) or just PM all residence of Canada in this forum.

I am sure they have accepted paper from someone.

I asked them 5 billion times about marriage certificate and they said yes, So I am sure that is for me. I am not sure for you.

One questions for you guys:

I submitted my I-864 on 9/5/2008 and I called NVC yesterday. They said it's still being reviewed. Should I be worried why still they haven't accepted my I-864 AOS? What is the usual wait times on getting AOS approved and entered in the system? I am just worried about getting RFE... :unsure::unsure:
