I spoke with another rep today who agreed that there is no reason I should need the RCMP certificate since their instructions are Canadian certificates clearly state that ones from a local police department are acceptable. Since the info on the RFE in their system is not specific, she had me pull out my photocopy and went over with me to find where the problem might be. First of all, it doesn't specify the database used for the search. Our certificates should state that the CPIC or national criminal records repository was searched, but mine only states "A Canada wide search" (another thing I asked about in the forums and was assured would not be an issue).

Then we found what is likely to be the real reason, that it the search didn't include the variation of spelling of my first name that I use (legally my name has an 'e' on the end, which I never use). I noticed that when I was handed the certificate and was told by the record clerk that had anything appeared with a variant spelling it would state so, and that the NVC would know that. Guess this is what I get for not insisting on one with both names at the time.

I just paid the $400 bill!

Does that mean Ds 3032 was accepted?

Here is my story. I've lived problem free life, payed my taxes. One day I decided to marry this girl. But to do so would require her to come to US of A, and so it started. My problem free live turned in to free problems from USCIS! Sure things turned to unsure, certain dates turned to aproximation within months. All logical thinking was out the door, as I filed my papers withing famous Vermont Centre!

What do you have to do now? get another PCC? that would suck really bad. I hate RFEs period

I don't even know. I have to stew for a bit. If I get an RCMP one, I have to find a way to get there (the office is an hour's drive away and I don't have a license). If I get the 2nd level clearance certificate from my local office (which should NOT be required damnit!) it will take 6 weeks to come in. If I just get another of the same certificate with both first names on it, I run the risk that the fact that the CPIC or national criminal records repository not being stated IS the real reason for the RFE and I'll just waste more money and time. I don't know what the hell to do. I know I said I'd be fine with an RFE since we have time anyway, but if anything I was expecting one on the AOS package, not MY package! I'm too damned thorough and organized! I just can't believe this.
