Ughhh...

24 days till wifey goes to the interview..hopefully they'll approve her i'm tired of waiting man...it has come to a point where i'm bored and not care about this whole sh1it process at all.

Hang in there Shpat, you're in the home stretch. It's the probably the holiday season (or just the damn weekend) that's getting you upset.

When we were waiting, it was the weekends that messed me up the most. You've gotta find stuff to keep you busy. Maybe remodel a room or two....

that helped me a lot. Since I knew I was doing it for Ring Ring, I felt like she was there with me...watching and guiding.

Nimche and all.

Incase you didn't hear....CJ Visani used the LingChe guide and FLEW through NVC in 13 days.

And that's without getting the IIN over the phone.

I added a special thanks in the guide to all of you Aug. 2008 folks who were not only a part of this incredible thread,

but who contributed your experiences and helped make the guide what it is.

I wish WE (all of the Aug. 2008 folks) could have had this guide available to us....but I get a tingly feeling in my stomach

knowing that WE (all of us) are helping people get through NVC as efficiently as possible.

Makes me mad as hell that lawyers are still taking money from people and 90% of the time slowing down their process.

i don't know if you remember back in the begining my suggestion to people just starting the process was to invest instead of a lawyer into a nice laptop and printer... less money and it'll get the s/o here faster... so far i think only one has taken my suggestion i know two that have gone with lawyers on k1 and it took them 3 months to even submit the paperwork  crazy a$$ ####### if you ask me... can we be like "immergration consulatants" and chage less to help people ??? i wonder if that can be like a side job or is that even legal???

I mean imagine submitting paperwork for others and helping them through the process for a fraction of what a lawyer charges but if cases are complicated then suggest a lawer thoughts????

Consulting would be great, but the lawyers thought of that loophole long ago.

It's illegal for anyone except a lawyer to give legal advice. A birdie told me that's the reason this website is hosted outside the US.

A US lawyer tried to have it shut down on the basis that VJ was practicing law without a license....cutting into their money.

While most of us VJ veterans could do a better job on a part-time basis, than immigration lawyers do on a full-time basis,

we'll have to be satisfied that our rewards will come in another way than monetary.

Who knows...some of us might mysteriously receive used cellphones :-)

Oh...added your advice to the "General Notes" section of the guide.

lol... i didn't suggest that to be in the guide but coooool. ok here's the deal next phone i get for free you can have my extra one????? so start rooting for me to get another on :star:

OK Ok how about we all move to another country and be "consulatants?" but then again would kind of defeat the whole VJ process for our S/O's  oh well dang lawyers!!! but i agree there are always other forms of reimbursment

I guess we have to get into the definition of practicing law. People create contracts on their own all the time and seek help/aid from people who have been through the process before. They're sharing their experience, not offering legal advice. I think if anyone wanted to defend VJ, they'd be successful in court.

Anyhow, good news from our end. The guy who wanted to buy my husband's house called and said he has the $$ already despite not having sold his home yet. So in a couple of months this should be done and we'll be on our way to life in the US.

Amazing.

Glad to hear Nicole's paperwork is on the way.

So who else are we waiting for?

Asking a friend for assistance with a contract or some other legal paperwork is very different from hanging up a shingle that says "I can help with your immigration issues". It's the same as helping a friend change a tire or going into the business of changing tires. One is casual assistance, the other is a business.

As for VJ being successful in defending a lawsuit in the US....I doubt it. For one, in order to offer certain services, you have to have insurance (malpractice and/or errors & omissions insurance). Secondly, the courts would be concerned that in the absence of a legal education and legal experience, VJ contributors could (potentially) do more harm than good. Third, anytime you step into a court of law, bend over and open your wallet.

Even if VJ was able to beat a lawsuit, it would be expensive...so to me there's no possibility of successful defense, only successful avoidance of a lawsuit.

Congrats on the movement with your house sale. I know a lot of sellers avoid people with contingencies, exactly for the delay that you've seen.

VJ is a forum. It isn't offering anything but what we put here. I think it would be successfully defended if you were willing to go to battle. The biggest problem tends to be intimidation which is one way that people "win" by default. They don't expect you to be willing to fight. Once they see you are serious, they have to weigh how much they are willing to put into it and sometimes they're not as serious as they appear. They want to scare you into submission.
