Hi

I have not written in a long time because I have been so frustrated. But here it goes- reality has finally kicked in...

After my Husbands interview in Costa Rica they told him he was approved and to to come and pick up his visa the next day. We were so Happy and thats when I wrote on this thread jumping for joy about his approval. But......

After he walked out of the building he got a God Forsaken phone call from the incompetents at the Embassy, they had the nerve to tell him that he could not go pick up his visa the next day because they had to do a NAME CLEARANCE. And that it could take weeks, months and sometimes worse.

So, we are still waiting and I am almost 9 months pregnant, I'm just glad I did not buy the airplane ticket for my Hubby to come home.

Has anyone had a similar experience?

That sucks.

They call it AP "administrative processing"

There are people on this website with the same issue. I am hoping that he will get the result back soon.

Good Luck

Hey all,

Nimche, first I want to congratulate you and your wife, :D you are together now.

I have a question for you. My husband will have his interview in Italy and I was wondering if your wife had to show any other proof, did they ask for anything like photos, emils and so on. You said her interview went good, I hope it will be the same for my husband. I know we haven't even received the NOA2 yet (its taking sooo long), but we are trying to prepare so we have everything we need.

Thanks Nimche

I don't know how long you have been married for but we have been married for 4 years and 6 months. I wouldn't see any poblem with our case to be proven.

On the other hand, we did a research to find an easy embassy. US Consulate in Naples is really easy and they are awesome. I don't see any reason for them to give you any hard time but, you should take your marragie photos (ceremony) you honey moon photos, emails, phone card or any other proofs.

We did take lots of papers but they didn't even look at them but doesn't hurt to have all these complete to avoid any further problems.

Good Luck and let me know if you have any other questions.

Good Luck with the interview.

My husbands interview went really well. He was actually interviewed by two officers- the first one was a woman and she was trying to ask tricky questions, but since he was very truthful it didn't hurt our case.

What is DOD? I called the consulate and they basically said to stop calling and wait. Its always the same girl that answers the phone and either she really does not know anything or she is just extremely uncooperative.

I thought the FBI does the name check. I know for a fact that if everything goes well, your husbands name will be cleared in Max. Three weeks..

Did he have a governmental job?

Good Luck and keep us posted. You should be done soon and he should be here before the New Year

Lately (judging by signatures timelines I've seen around) it looks like the SSN cards are arriving in 2 weeks-ish, and the GC a week or two later.

Hubby and I celebrated our 2nd wedding anniversary from afar yesterday. Surprisingly enough we weren't sad or depressed at all to not be together like we were expecting. Probably because the interview is so close. But I was sick and got to stay home from work, and he had just had his tonsils out a few days ago, so we were a funny little pair but in great moods and we spent the whole day on the phone together. And that officially gets me an IR-1 visa so I don't have to bother with removing conditions! Woo!

I'll be on a bus to Montreal a week from tomorrow!

Hey Nimche,

I got my SSN card today in mail, I took them only 9 days to make it.

I do not have my Green Card yet, I suppose it would take much longer to produce it than the SSN card.

The immigration officer at the POE told me it could be 1 - 2 months.

Hope this helps
