That's awesome, Rena!! Really good idea too! Hubby and I were trying to come up with some sort of tat we could both get, but we can't agree on anything thus far :)

I have a bunch of those mutant flags. They usually come out of hiding when we go to Canadian events here in NC. I think I've given them all away though, I can't find my last one :(

I have the Made in Canada logo on my back right shoulder. I've had it for longer than I've known my husband though. I've thought about getting something to symbolise both countries, but not flags, I was thinking more the bald eagle and a beaver. With the beaver on top of course. ;)

divorced - April 2010 moved back to Ontario May 2010 and surrendered green card

Getting my somehow-symbolic-of-Canada tattoo is on my to-do list once I get down there..I also want something to represent Nova Scotia and New Brunswick...both my homes. I was thinking the two provincial flowers with their stems intertwined...

I will be getting a Canadian tattoo as well though. He keeps calling me an American already, but I told him I will always be a displaced Canadian :)

two things are holding me back from getting another one. 1 - money. 2 - there's no good shops around here :(

For some strange reason, its more expensive here in the middle of nowhere North Carolina for tattoos than it is in downtown Toronto. Go figger...

So I don't already have a Canadian inspired tat but I really feel like I need to get one. I already have a tattoo which is quite visible on my right forearm that reads, "Et Tu, Brute?"

I was thinking of getting this on the back of my neck line, "Je Me Souveins/ Que né sous le lys/ Je croîs sous la rose". (I remember that born under the lily, I grew under the rose). Many of us know this saying of course. I'm not Francophone but it has always inspired me and I've always thought it was beautiful.

Those are my thoughts today. haha

"...My hair's mostly wind,

My eyes filled with grit

My skin's white then brown

My lips chapped and split

I've lain on the prairie and heard grasses sigh

I've stared at the vast open bowl of the sky

I've seen all the castles and faces in clouds

My home is the prairie and for that I am proud…

If You're not from the Prairie, you can't know my soul

You don't know our blizzards; you've not fought our cold

You can't know my mind, nor ever my heart

Unless deep within you there's somehow a part…

A part of these things that I've said that I know,

The wind, sky and earth, the storms and the snow.

Best say that you have - and then we'll be one,

For we will have shared that same blazing sun." - David Bouchard

My sweetie (the USC) just told me that he is going to get a Canadian-ish tattoo! A pin-up girl, with similar features to mine, dressed in a mountie uniform  He's getting it on the underside of his fore-arm (he's running out of real estate, so it's nice that there is a place left where it will be highly visible!

He's getting it done by Hannah from LA Ink... a friend of his works at the shop where she works when she's in Chicago.

He should have it by the next time I see him at the end of the month!

Really looking forward to seeing it!!! Not quite looking forward to the bed yuckyness that comes with a brand new one though

Design issues though... mini skirt or actual uniform? hat or no? I am thinking mini skirt and not sure on the hat. He wasn't really decided at all and wanted my advice (which is awesome!)

  • 7/7/08 -- I-129f sent
  • 7/9/08 -- I-129f received at CSC
  • 7/24/08 -- NOA1 (finally!)
  • 12/2/08 -- NOA2 (WOOT!!!!)
  • 12/8/08 -- received at NVC
  • 12/22/08 -- packet 3 (with packet 4 attachment instead of checklist :P)
  • 12/29/08 -- packet 3 sent back with bits and pieces that I pulled together to make up a packet 3
  • 1/5/09 -- actual packet 3 received, but found out by via e-mail that they were satisfied with what I had already provided
  • 2/10/09 -- found out via call to DoS that my interview is scheduled!
  • 3/16/09 -- interview!!!! APROVED!!!
  • 4/7/09 -- MOVE!!!!!!!!
Crossed at Detroit/Windsor Tunnel... pretty painless, about 45 minutes, inexperienced officer, asked for and received EA stamp
  • 4/13/09 -- Married in New Orleans!!!!!!!!
  • 5/30/09 -- Filed AOS/AP/EAD
  • 6/1/09 -- AOS etc received in Chicago

Yeah that's where she's from, I believe. She works at Deluxe Tattoo http://www.deluxetattoo.com/main_new.html

I think she's only there maybe one week a month or something now. He said that she doesn't take new clients normally, but Ben Wahhh is one of the main artists there and a friend of Jamie's. He said that he thinks he can probably get her to do my next one too when I finally figure out ####### I want. I have been working on that for probably a couple of years and not coming up with anything perfect for the big one that I want.

I guess she charges something like $800/hour though :o

I am beyond excited and so incredibly touched that someone would do something that awesome for me! I mean it's not as intimate as getting someone's name tattooed, but everyone knows that's not the smartest thing to do. It should look quite a bit like me at least, but without being a photograph type image.

Oh wow she is good...

800$/hour....ouch not sure if i could afford that, but I am sure the other people that works there are really good too, why would she work with poor artists :P Me and hubby were looking around few tattoo shops in the burbs, and honestly looking at their tattoo albums made me want to leave....really poor quality and colors. It's permanent so I like it to look good!
