I have my interview in New Delhi on the 7th June. I gravely doubt they would schedule the interview earlier if asked... yes they ask for Police Certificates. I think for Indian nationals they ask for more than just the certificate... but I will have to go read the check list and let you know... not being an Indian myself I do not recall exactly what it is they want.

You need to submit originals... take a set of photocopies to the interview or they will keep the originals.

Paul and I met on the Bazaar on the 14th January (he joined my progressive rock forum that day)

July 3rd he flew to England to meet me

We fell in love while he drove all over the place coz I cannot read maps (we were supposed to go to Ingleton - but touched Darlington 4 times, Pierce Bridge 6 times, Scotch Corner twice and Bernard Castle twice and we never did make it to Ingleton)

It has been so long and so much has happened in between...

Arrived in Houston on October 29th 2006

Married 17th November 2006

Lost my father 8th January 2007 (all dates are a blur after this)

Conditional Green Card dated 24th October 2007

Ok... this is exactly what the Embassy sent with regard to Police report:

Each applicant aged 16 and older must submit a police certificate that includes information regarding the applicant including all arrests, the reason for the arrest9s) and the disposition of such cases. (A) Indian citizens residing in India for six months or more since turning 16 years of age must present Indian police clearance certificates from both their district police station and the local area passport office. Applicants whose passports were issued within six months of the visa interview may present just the passport office certificate. (B) If an Indian citizen who has lived in India for at least one year after the age of 16 currently resides outside India, he/she must obtain a certificate issued by the Indian Embassy or Consulate where he/she lives. These certificates are valid for only one year from the date of issuance.

© Foreign police certificates: applicants who have resided in any other country for one year or more after the age of 16 must also submit police certificates for these countries. Applicants may inquire with our immigrant Visa Unit regarding police certificates for these countries, telephone number: 2419-8062, 24198374, Email: ivnd@state.gov . You may also check in the visa reciprocity table on the website www.travel.state.gov . (D) U.S. police certificates are not required for applicants who have lived in the U.S.A. (E) Non-Indian immigrant visa applicants residing in India should obtain police certificates from the district police station serving their area of residence

Hi there. This is comming from my husband, Vipul, who got his visa the last week of October 2005.

1. Initially they didn;t ask for the police certificates but later on called Vipul at home and requested he bring them to the embassy (which he did).

2. Usually copies are fine for evidence of relationship and that sort of thing.

3. Vipul said yes they are rude if you argue with them (which he did a little  ).

4. I doubt you could get the interview scheduled earlier. Vipul thinks it would be near impossible to do so.

Good luck with your interview!

Hi siddharth18,

You will need everything that will prove your relationshipe with your spouse!! also all the certificates such as your birth certificate, marriage certificate original, police certificate, passport clearence certificate from local passport office. and pictures of wedding, reception. if you have everything that they want then they won't be rude. But you have to have all the documents that they request.

for arranging interview, it is really upon embassy but it is nearly impossible like other saying. But if there is an emerency then you can try to provide by going personally to Delhi embassy.

Good Luck,
