I've read that if you're applying through London the beneficiary can use hos/her own assets as a way of self-sponsoring instead of using a co-sponsor in case the USC hasn't got enough assets/income for the I-134. Is this possible in other countries as well (I'm obviously particularly interested about conditions in Sweden)?

I believe this only works for married couples (as stated on the I-864 form), not for fiances.

I find it weird that the I-134 seems to be more strict than the I-864 (which is the legally binding and seemingly more serious form). It's not just the matter of not being able to use my own assets but also the question about whether a co-sponsor can be used for the I-134 (been reading many conflicting opinions about that). I also don't see the logic in how it could not matter if I have enough assets to qualify for the 5 x 1,25 x poverty limit; one would assume it's slighly less likely that I'll become a public charge with a stable financial position. Oh well, this entire process is kind of confusing at times...
