not quite what i thought i'd find when i saw a thread about an open relationship.

Charles, just want to have an idea how open the relationship should be. :)

you might wanna do a search on the term "open relationship"

I could do that.. But I want to post and ask here.. My choice.. :bonk:

An "open" relationship is basically one where you can screw whomever you choose. I'd assume that they would be emotionally exclusive to each other though.

That is what Charles is getting at, and the same thing I wondered at first when I saw the thread title.

Open relationship.... mmmmmm... definetly not the best title for the thread!

I think that every married couple should have access to all the mentioned above, that's just how it should be, I hardly ever check my husband's emails accounts but I love the fact that he trust me enough to give TOTAL ACCESS to everything I want! I think that when you don't have anything to hide why not share it with "the love of your life"

I know that being open is one of the key factors in a relationship..

Just curious about how open it is when you say OPEN?

Does that mean that you two have access in each other's e-mail?

Checking phones? Credit card bills? Credit card numbers and security codes? Expenses? Finances like salaries and bank accounts? Whereabouts? Who's with you?

Work timing? Etc?

I see no reason that the two of us should have access to each other's emails and separate financial accounts. We have separate checking and credit card accounts as well as joint accounts. If we really need to know something about each other's accoutns, we can just ask. That to me is trust. Phone bills? No, we have separate cell phone service and it wouldn't occur to either of us that there is something fishy there.

To know where each other is, well that's just common courtesy. We let each other know when and where we are going somewhere and will check in if plans change or times run late, but that's about it.

Really, we just trust each other so there is no need for all of this checking up on each other. An open relationship TO ME (ehm, in this sense, not the one Charles is talking about), is just about being honest and keeping the lines of communication open so that we are on the same page and talking it through when we aren't.

^^^^^ Totally agree! So does a couple who do not share all their email accounts, bank accounts, passwords, etc. have problems in their relationship? I would hope not! I've not shared all those things with my husband, neither he with me. We trust each other implicitly...and I think that's THE most important factor of all. Not having shared all those things has not made us skeptical or suspicious...it's merely maintained a few areas that are still private. Nothing at all wrong with that IMHO.

What's with all these relationship questions anyway...seems like there's one or two new ones each week! :)
