Think yourself really lucky that your little girl does NOT look like Winston Churchill. It's a well-known fact that 95% of babies look like Winston Churchill up to the age of 6 months.

J/K

Your little girl looks pretty normal and healthy to me. Hope you sort this out with hte other half and the in-laws soon

She looks quite normal... remember that when she starts moving around more, learning to walk she will change again as she expends more energy. I remember my baby being over 9lbs - I seemed to get a good nioghts sleep quicker than the ladies who had smaller babies.

ur baby is not fat, shes so cute..i weighed 6.5 lbs at birth and my husband weighed 10 lbs! so our baby turned to be a 7 lbs. 7 oz...and i think my baby isnt fat either, infact im trying her to gain more..hehe

i think it is all papa's instinct about their babies to start learning at the age of 3,my hubby said that too..even playing instrument..we discuss about it and at the end it comes to "whatever she wants, she will be"...

Try disproving them with science...

Go to this website:

http://www.medcalc.com/growth/

Put in your baby's info and click the top circle (weight for age, 0-36 months) then click "create growth chart". That will show you what percentile your baby is in.

I don't think it hurts at all to introduce a child to reading and mathematics at an early age as long as it's not the all they do all day long.

I don't think most three year olds could cope with a musical instrument. But a recorder and a tambourine wouldn't hurt. If she's musically inclined it will show itself soon enough.

Music expands the mind - it's proven that children who play a musical instrument do better in school.

Baby doesn't look fat, just like a baby. As she starts moving around she will most likely shed some of her 'baby fat'. As long as she isn't 50lbs at the age of one I think you are ok (like those 3 year olds they showed on tv sometime back whose parents let them eat all day anything they wanted and were over 100lbs!!)

Oh I agree totally! It's all in how it's done. However, some cultures (or so it seems to me) and I know some parents try to push their children into becoming "superkids". Musical instruments like the ones listed above do help with fine motor skills as well. I just believe in guiding these very young minds and letting certain talents start to develop. Once you see that talent then you can (if you are so inclined) expand on it. Forcing a child to become a superkid does no one any good. Just my opinion though. :)

I agree with everybody here, your baby is totally healthy and normal. How much does she weigh now at 5 months old? DS was 8lbs 14oz at birth and 21lbs at five months old. Since he turned one year old he's been at a steady 28lbs, didn't really gain anything but all the wrist and leg chub is gone. DD was 8lbs 3oz at birth so she was a good sized baby too but by far not FAT.

Removal of Conditions Timeline:
