OK.. so i've gotten everything together just waiting for NVC to get our papework but reviewing everything for the hundredth time i realized Reda's Biograhpic page is in French and Arabic... but I can read what it says I think I should get it translated still But were in Seattle do i get such things "officially" translated?

Any ideas????

By biographic page did you mean the G-325A? Like he filled it out in french and arabic ? If that is what you mean and they accepted it with your original petition and approved you from USCIS to NVC... I don't think it would be a problem. But if it was, you can always translate it for him to English if you understand it - scan and email it to him, have him sign it and fax it back to you ?

If by 'biographic' page you meant something that's issued by the Moroccan government, I'm not sure where you would find an official translator here... I guess there are places? But I'm not sure others may know where/how to get in contact with them.

sorry let me clarify.. his biographic page in his passport for the DS 230 supporting evidence...i can read the exp date and issued date and the address not sure if that is good enough or not???

Ah okay.. I gotcha now... I don't think t hat it matters. I did CR 1 and I NEVER translated anything from Jihed's passport - Just photo copied that in black and white and color and sent it on to them. Parts of it had English-ish areas but most was written in Arabic with French under it and they never asked for any form of translations at all.. I'm not sure if you can do that with a passport or not? And mainly they are concerned with the expiration date I believe.. As to travel it has to have at least a 6 month validity date beyond issuance of visa...

Again could be wrong, I'm not sure exactly what Moroccan passports look like.

I also just wanted to add that I wasn't sure what you meant by evidence to go with the DS 230? Unless things have changed since the start of May 2008 I didn't do anything but have the DS 230 filled out, signed by him and sent into NVC ... Are they asking now for something to be submitted with it? The copy of the passport was sent with your original I 130 as requested by them (one copy of the bio page of your passport and one of us )

Do you have to send something else in now??

Ah okay we sent that at a different time, but I get what you are saying now.

So yes that was sent by me just not at the same time but I did not translate anything from his passport and there were no glitches about that from NVC or the embassy. Again, as you said the most important part is the date of expiration! They did tell us with the original I 130 to send translations of wedding certificate, police record and birth certificate, however when requested to send toward the end of the CR 1 process before he had an interview and things went to the embassy, it did state that translations were not necessary and that they wanted the original documents ( to be returned to him at the interview)

So what I did was send them the original documents, put our case number and his name in pencil at the top ( so they would return them very easily) and also paper clipped a copy of my translation just to CYA.

Again never translated a passport or heard of others doing it... But maybe it can be done? I really do not think you need to and don't see you getting any RFE or problem because of that. But just make sure the police certificate is as current as you can get?

I don't know if it will be an issue for an interview in Morocco (or maybe Spain for you) but with us I had sent the police certificate original that I had given them a copy of with the I 130 a few months before and at the interview they gave him the visa but said come back tomorrow with an updated police report (less than 30 days old) and we'll trade that with you, B3 (Tunis police certificate ) for visa.

sweetie I don't think we had to translate anything from my hubbies passport. But if anything is needed by NVC they will let you know and it is fast to correct. It should not delay anything much.

thanks... Ihave his police record all the originals an certified translations but there might be a hang up with the dates of police record now that you mention it. I got it before I left Morocco.. so he'll need a new one the hiccup is he is in Spain (needs one there) and he left Morocco in June and cannot go back until after Jan when he gets his residancy card from Spain. I hope the wont require him to back to morocco and get a new one??? maybe his parents can get it for him...

Iam kind of freaked about sending our original documents...how nerve racking !!!!

OMG you sound just like me with the original documents. Our marriage certificate in Arabic was framed and on the wall and after I had to pull it down, take it out and the thought of sending it to them.. I was a total wreck. Jihed kept telling me just relax I can get another one just like it here in Tunisia.. That's what he did and he brought it with him when he came over - But I swear (I hope it's the same for Reda) they gave him EVERYTHING back after the interview. But I MADE him ask them for it. He told the consular my wife really really wants our original marriage certificate back - I told her I can get her a copy just like it but she said that is the *real* one with our signature on it and it's really dear to her.. The consular laughed and told him no problem and we are done with it and have copies, and she handed it over!

Just be sure to use PENCIL and put your case number and his name in the upper right corner!!! (I put it on the back as well) That way it won't get lost (inshallah) and they will easily identify it with him. And tell him to ask for it back, there is nothing wrong with that request at all and I can't imagine an embassy would deny returning it to him.

As far as the police certificate (again only Tunis experience) but Jihed's father got his B3 while he was still in Tunis waiting for the visa in hand and it wasn't a problem. He just showed him his ID card and told him it was for Jihed and they walked out with it.. His father is a powerful guy in that town, but nonetheless, it's just a police certificate likely showing no offense so I don't think it would be hard for them. And then they can cyber cafe or if net at home, and scan/email or fax it over to Reda in Spain OR mail since it likely has to be the original - But the cost to mail it should be far less than the cost for him to return to Morocco and get it.

phew.. you just made me feel huge better. thanks I told Reda today about being able to move the interview to spain as soon as he gets a copy of his spanish residancy card and his Spanish visa to me with his bills from there i'll reques the move from Casa consulate to the Spanish consulate. He was sooo happy.

My suggestion: Would be asked at your local masjid for anyone who can offically translate Arabic ... or Arab-American social center ... then go from there checking the yellow pages for French translations (more $$$) Good luck!
