what are the ways you all are calling your hubbys from US???

do you use internet sites, do you use your own calling plan from your landline or calling cards.

I need to find a way to call my husband without spending as much money as i have been

Im working for a company in New York but im in the Philippines.I do homebased med billing for them. They sent me a Vonage phone which will enable me to call any # (inclusing cellphones) in the US, Canada and some countries in Europe. Saves me a lot of money. Its unlimited too.and i dont pay for it

Try using Yahoo Messneger or Skype..Its the cheapest way to keep in touch. Or go to www.vonage.com they have the coolest unlimited plans. as long as you you have internet connection.

Pingo.com is 18 c for landline and 25 c for mobile for Morocco. You will have access to detailed phone records as proof of communication for the embassy. They usually don't accept anything but detailed records that shows the number and date you called and where the calls originated.

I use both Noble and Pingo but Noble does not keep records online.

Hello , send your husband a lingo modem from lingo.com

it takes about three days to receive it, it costs 8 dollars a month, and he will have your area code, so he can call any number in your area code, as long as its a land line, he can call a cell but that costs more, there is also another plan with lingo, it costs 25 dollars a month and he can call anywhere that lingo can call which is local and long distance, which that would mean local / long distance for your area code, canada, Puerto Rico and 27 other countries

my husband has the 8 dollar plan I have the more expensive one because its the only phone service I use, its excellent I have had it for over two years now

you can use any phone with the modem it just interconnects with your pc router

good luck to you

Kathleen

trust me its better than using yahoo, or skype we did that route for too long this is a much better way to communicate

take care

We use 3U telecom for our LD. For us, it was the best deal.

I'm sure it's been thought of but have you tried Vonage? I use it to phone back home all the time and never have any problems with it. We have a local number back home setup when dialed by any of my family/friends will connect them directly to our phone here in Florida for the same price as a local call to them. Of course we also have a standard US number people in the US can call on as well.

All in including taxes, charges and everything else it's around $39 per month for unlimited calling and that includes our local number back home. Which is quite funny when someone over there dials the wrong number when looking for a taxi or the local dentist.. or the pub

When we were separated we chatted on MSN, we couldn't use SKYPE becasue (ironically) his connection in the states wasn't fast enough. Now that we are together, I use calling cards to call home. (Very expensive and bad service).

However, we are moving to Ohio this week and our new phone service has a very neat feature. For $20 extra a month, we get 3,000 minutes/month to call 100 countries. So now I will be able to keep in close contact with my family and friends back home. This is through Time Warner Cable. Hopefully it is available in your area.

I am a Skype user, like MSN/Yahoo if you have another person with it, it's free over VOIP but you can also call landlines with it, as steve&mary said, your connection is good enough.

Skype isn't as great as it used to be, since it got owned by Ebay/PayPal but $10 still lasts a pretty long time for long distance calls. I dunno what I would do if I couldn't talk to my mum every day

Previous to moving to the US, I used to use calling cards to call husband too. They are easy to use.

Have you heard about or tried Magic Jack??

Magic Jack is a new service that gives you a number, voicemail, call waiting, caller ID, etc. and a nifty little phone jack. Despite the name, the phone jack is not magical, but it gets close. It is a USB phone jack that plugs into a computer and then the person plugs a phone into the other end allowing them to make or receive calls for free. All you have to do is buy the phone jack for $39.00. That is not bad for a phone service. There aren't any other costs. As the website says, "Never pay a phone bill again!"

Their official website : http://www.magicjack.com/9/index.asp

And they are having some deals and specials right now. I have lots of friends using this and as long as your loved one has an internet connection at home, you are all set to go! They don't need anything else, but internet connection and they can plug their regular phone right into it - Best of all no to low yearly service fee - I think like $20 USD per year... Great for those seperated and those who are already here but want to speak cheaply to family back home.

I've had several friends call me and it is SUPER clear

Best part they call my mobile (I don't have to be on my computer) and they are using their regular phone - It's light and cheap to mail :) Definitely worth looking into!

Many little convenient stores sell international calling cards. I have found one that is the best to call Jordan, but they all differ from country to country. I use "topline" a $5 gives us an hour and 22 minutes. All of these cards are best used continuously. I.E- if you talk for 20 minutes, you will only have 20 minutes left for the next call.

But, we're usually still gabbing when i get the "you have one minute remaining" lol

Timeline: 13 month long journey from filing to visa in hand

If you were lucky and got an approval and reunion with your loved one rather quickly; Please refrain from telling people who waited 6+ months just to get out of a service center to "chill out" or to "stop whining" It's insensitive, and unecessary. Once you walk a mile in their shoes you will understand and be heard.

Thanks!
