I received my NOA2 in the mail yesterday it was dated August 20 with the approval date as August 14. If they sent my file to NVC on the 20th, how long should I wait before calling NVC to see if they have received it?

You can wait about a week and start calling. Since you filed for a CR1 visa, your case # will be loaded in the auto system, just make sure you have your receipt number handy because it'll ask for it.

Ours arrived in 6 days (and there was a weekend in there). You can start calling as soon as you want, but just be prepared, you're going to be doing a TON of calling the automated system and the operators during this stage! You will have those numbers memorized within 2 weeks.

LOL I have my case number memorized, and most of the prompts in the automated system! As of Friday, it had not been received yet... I will call again on monday...

I called every other day but NVC says wait 30 days before calling to find out if NVC received the case. Basically it takes about 1 month for them to see anything but by that time, it would have already left NVC and sent to your embassy via DHL.

when I called on Friday, they said to wait 2 weeks. But I can call the AVS to see if it is in the system before I talk to the operator.

I hope we don't have to wait too long! We were approved on August 11th and NVC still hasn't received our case yet.. guys is this normal? Is it really wait for the 30 day thing?..

what we have seen is that it takes about 1 or 2 weeks but if your case is one of the ones that takes longer, they will not start looking for it until after the 30 days... some have even been told 90 days. Hopefully they will get ours very soon!

So NVC reveived the file yesterday, 08/27/2008. I called and got the new case number and tried to get them to give me the IIN, but they told me that they did not have it... grrr

I have heard SOOOO many inconsistent reasons why they won't give out the IIN.

I've heard that it hasn't been generated, that it may be the wrong number, that the system isn't working, that the website is down, that they can see it but can't give it out,

that they have NEVER given it out on the phone, that they can't give it out on the phone, and that I just have to wait until I receive the physical fee bill.

It's VERY frustrating, and makes no sense why some people are given their IIN number when they get their NVC number, and some people get it after several calls,

and some people never get it. Apparently, I don't get it....grrr x 10

I think they're making it increasingly harder to get the IIN. Back in early June, I got it right away on the first try. Now it sounds like they put up such a fight. Maybe they're on to all the people using shortcuts and are afraid of overloading the system somehow.

Anyhow, Nicole, I'm glad they've got you in the system and you can finally be on your way!
