My husband bought me a pack of Newports 2 years ago (I don't smoke).

He just thought it was a part of the States I was missing out on. So - I told him all along that I'd smoke them when I became a PR. Who knew it'd take this long.

So, 2+ years later, the Newports are still in the car console and my first act as a PR on September 21 will be to smoke a Newport.

This is bothering me- I'm sitting here trying to remember the night I came back. I remember the POE experience and the flight. I remember being in the car with Mel driving home. I got back 3 days before our 1st Anniversary- we were very happy about that. Come to think of it- I can't remember what we did for our anniversary. I am either too tired to think or all those chemicals I've been sniffing from housecleaning today have gotten to me.

I remember walking through the glass doors to see my hubby waiting for me and taking a picture! Then we picked up the dog and the luggage and headed home. The first thing we did, was take the dog for a walk! Poor thing, after 6 hours in her crate, she sure did have to pee!

lol... we were only 4 hrs in on a 12 hr drive... we were in the "wilds" of Maine on the airline road after dark. Really quite honestly.. the first thing I did was watch for Moose so we weren't killed on the drive to CT :)

We did stop at BK and had something to eat where I was totally impressed that I could have refills on my pop (unheard of back home)... Then I think I fell asleep somewhere in Vermont and didn't wake up until Hartford. I woke up as we were going near the down town and it was my first look at "the big city".. only one of many big cities we've visited since... but anywhoo..... We arrived at the apartment halfway through the night so we crawled into bed without even unpacking the honda.. Yeah.. wish it was a better story :) but c'est la vie!

We didn't do anything planned or even really interesting.

One thing though, for about 5 minutes after we crossed the border there was like a feeling of relief/elation - I didn't really even know I was stressed about crossing the border until then.

After that I just looked at the miles of road ahead in Montana

I crossed the border at 8PM on a Thursday. Traffic was sparse to none. First thing I did was fill up the gas tank with cheap American gas and then put the hammer down. :)

 - hahahahahahaha - that made me snort first thing this am.

Hmm, it was september, I think we went to cracker barrel in Buffalo.

Is that a restuarant? Or like a place they sell cheese? Cause I could really dig either

My mother in law is a Cracker Barrel fiend. I drove to Houston with her last time she up- we stopped at every Cracker Barrel on the way.

I first thought of cheese when I heard of Cracker Barrel too :)

It is an old fashioned country style restaurant with a store attached to it. They have some neat stuff in there.

Its a restaurant that has food that is equivalent to what you'd find in an old age home.

Their roast beef literally slides down your throat. You really don't need to chew it. Fascinating.
