F1 to AOS and attend shool

Hi everyone,

I am F1 student. I am waiting for AOS approval process. I received EAD card. My school will begin soon, I do not want to attend school this year for some reason. I will be back school next year. Do you know I can be allowed to quit shool this year? My I20 is expired to 2010

Your status is AOS pending, so you will not be deported if that is what you are asking about.

Just talk with admissions or guidance at the college and let them know that you plan on taking year off and wish to continue studies in a year, you have legal status and your visa makes no difference and can even expire or be voided.

Once you sent out your I-485 AOS package, you are no longer in F-1 status, you are just someone "who is in pending status". Make sure you don't leave US without getting the AP back, however, since you got your EAD already, you can now legally work without restriction.
