Hello All,

How much evidence is enough to prove to the US Consulate that there is a bona-fide relationship? Is three phone call a week enough? Is two email a week enough? Sometime we try to keep touch but I have been using calling card in the past so I don't know what is sufficient right now.

First, what are you filing for and where are you in the process?

:time:

Second....

If you are just filing now, they aren't too concerned with phone conversations. They want to see that you are both eligible to marry and that you have met at least once in person within the last two year prior to filing.

Show them stamps in your passport, boarding passes, hotel receipts, credit card receipts showing you have been in each other's countries, car rental agreements, etc, etc,

Phone conversations and things of that nature are more needed at interview stage.

Good Luck!

More than enough evidence is usually enough to be on the safe side.. just be sure you bring in everything you have quoting what laura and nicholas posted above. Whatever phone calls/emails you have as evidence you should be absolutely fine. Alot of people spend a ridiculous amount of time on the phone like 4 or 5 times a day but not everyone can afford a damaging phone bill every month, I would rather spend that on a plane ticket to be face to face :content:

Just bring in what you have, be confident and do not volunteer more information than what they ask! The best of luck with everything :)

This is subjective and varies from consulate to consulate. My suggestion...bring all you can. I brought phone bills, western union receipts, emails, proof of travel, receipts for gifts, photos and letters. I had a stack maybe 4-5 inches high. They looked at it through the window and asked for four photos, that was all we needed. The photos were clearly taken at different times of the year, snow and heavy coats in one and short sleeves in others, so clearly I had been there more than once. They never looked at the other stuff. That was the embassy in Kiev, Ukraine and we had a "no questions asked" interview.

Hello,

I received the NOA2 so I am preparing for the K1 interview. The case is forwarded to GZ China. I do make a lot of calls before but it was all on a phone card and I cannot provide the number I call. I am currently making calls from my cellphone now. I do have emails from latter part of last year til about Feb and then after we met, we use the phone more then computer as her access is limited. I do have Western Union reciept that I send money to support her, flowers that I sent over for Chinese Valentine Day, and she do have birthday cards etc but my concern is how often do we need to touch base. I know some people touch bases multiple time a day and others couple time a week. I guess I am just fusterated because of what I heard about other people experinece. Thanks you all.

Joe

Why not use your phone cards as evidence? Save some and take them to the interview.
Phone cards aren't very good evidence you called a certain number.

Want to buy a bunch cheap?

K1 denied, K3/K4, CR-1/CR-2, AOS, ROC, Adoption, US citizenship and dual citizenship

They were great evidence in my case, I provided over 500 of them with an affidavit from the store owner where I bought most of them.

In this day and age it is quite common to use phone cards for foreign calling, it is much cheaper that way. Why pay the phone company outrageous rates when you can talk for pennies a minute on a phone card? Many don't even use the phone at all and converse over the internet.

My file is leaving for Tashkent next week per the NVC. so my Fiance will have her interview in about a month

If you are beginning the process then you must think ahead of what your needs will be. Because I call her once or twice a week, I decided to sign up for Vonage and have printable records from February 2007 to present and each billing cycle shows all my international call to my fiance home phone and cell phone and how long we talked each time  If you have been writing e-mails then select a few from each month both yours and hers. She has all copies of money transfers I have sent her and also the receipt for the ring I purchased when I visited last year. For photos, I went to Tashkent with a Kodak digital camera that holds a thousand photos and also a docking station to print up for her over 200 photos while I was there. When I returned home, I placed all photos on CD, so that I can makes copies anytime I need them

If you are going to be a boyscout/girlscout in this endeavor then it is best to be prepared :star:

Good luck

I buy mine online at PIN 99 so I charge them on my VISA but people tell me that I cannot prove that I call my fiance that why they are not great evidence.

Your visa bill will show the purchase, so you could use that and explain that is how you made calls. I'm not trying to suggest that this is the ultimate form of proof, just another piece in the puzzle. If you have it, why not use it along with your other evidence?

If you use the Simplink phone card (simplink.com), then you do have a call record. This is a rechargable phone card that lets you program numbers into it for a speed dial function. When I go on the simplink website and look at the call records, it shows the actual numbers called, even with the speed dial function. So, I have my cell phone records showing my calls to the phone card, and the phone card records showing my calls to Colombia.

Just something to think about. :D

A phone card that has no record of who you called or visa charge is no evidence of proof of call plain and simple

And a stamped passport and boarding pass is no evidence that you actually met the person you are claiming to have met. And pictures aren't actual proof either, they can be altered digitally, remember Forest Gump? Neither are letters from family and friends, they could be lying.

I use the "Mega Clean and Stable" phone card to call Brazil. My online account lists all phone numbers called.

A passport stamp and boarding pass to another country with photos of the two of you with the fiance(e)'s family and friends during that time are pretty compelling.

Same with credit card or ticket receipts. If they show you took the cable car to the Sugarloaf in Rio and have pictures on the top that day, it's difficult to fake.

I wish they would allow digital cameras to the interview, my fiancee could show thousands of pictures of us :) Hard to digitally alter so many pictures!

I think car rental receipts with both names and driver's license numbers are actually one of the best proof. Hotel receipts are not far behind, especially if they list a passport number. Last time we traveled together, we made sure both our names were printed.

I do not believe in emails - I can forge as many as you want in a few minutes. I think copying emails or chat conversations are a waste of time.
