Based on thise thread Iron Chef we've decided to start a thread where we choose 1 ingredient every 2-4 weeks, and we make a dish with that ingredient and post the recipe and pictures here.

Please feel free to join us.

We're starting with cheese as our first ingredient.

Cheese. OK. Quick one for TV night:

Get a nice big pumpernickel bread (or whichever looks like a huge bowl), open and empty. Keep top of bread to cover while cooking

Shred whichever freaking cheese you have on your fridge.

Butter inside and out of bread.

Put cheese in and oven for a while until it melts.

Eat with fingerrrrs.

Yum.

Cheese, yummy. I have always wanted to create the perfect cheese souffle. A french ambassador's wife once cooked one for us, which was amazing. I would love to recreate it, but I have this fear of souffles and I don't think I have made one for years!

Refusing to use the spellchick!

I have put you on ignore. No really, I have, but you are still ruining my enjoyment of this site. .

MMMMMMMMMMMM.... me love some cheese! Well, one of my faves (& I just so happen to be making it tonight) is eggplant w/ tomatoes & cheese. Does it count if cheese is only 1/3 of the ingredients?

Sliced eggplant (in rounds or however you like them)

Sliced tomatoes (again, however you like them)

Drizzle w/ Olive Oil, Za'atar (a seasoning blend from Middle East - mostly roasted thyme w/ sesame seeds & who knows what else- it's yummy!), salt, pepper

Pretty much any kind of shredded cheese ya got - I usually use an italian-ish blend (romano/asiago/parm)

Layer eggplant/tomatoe/cheese in a casserole dish. Bake for about 30 min on 350.

devour!!!

Noura

ps... thanks for the "bakespace" link - I'm gonna check it out. Good luck w/ the diabetes diagnosis. You'll find it easy to manage once you get the hang of it all.
