maybe he doesn't remember how many he owns b/c some he never sees or something and are investments.

You're saying he's a man who doesn't keep track of his own investments?

I'm sorry, was that supposed to make him look good? ;)

No, it's not supposed to make him look good. But I don't know why this article is supposed to make him look so bad. :P

So now we're basing presidential candidates on their homes and how many they own? Fascinating. I don't seem to remember this sort of interest a number of years when the race was between Bush and Gore.

The reason I mention that is because Bush's ranch in Texas is actually far more ecologically friendly than Gore's home. Very few people paid attention to that little detail. I find it particularly noteworthy, considering Democrats are supposed to be the "Environmentally Friendly" party and Gore made such a stink about his movie.

I guess none of that matters, though. After all, Bush is a Republican and as we all know, they're "evil" and Democrats are "good." It doesn't matter what they say or do; they just are. So I suppose it make sense people are criticizing McCain on the number of houses he owns, instead of something actually important and relevant to the presidency, since if he does win it, he'll be living at the White House. If any house matters in this race, that's the one that does. ;)

How many Senate Pages does he have?

That made me laugh :)

There's good money in beer.

Should I run out and grab a six pack of Miller?

I believe a good Budweiser might be more Republican...

DPX, I love how you break things down for the people :)

I'm ready for this election to be over with. Seriously. And I'm a fairly political person.

In case people miss the point --

McCain couldn't remember how many homes he owned.

That's the point. Not that he owns 4 or 7.

He couldn't remember.

Like many such fights, it all started with a principled debate over competing formulas for calculating tax revenue. Excuse me, I'm sorry: That's in an alternate universe. Like all such fights, this one was about symbolism and positioning. The subject of this spat—stay with me here—is how many houses McCain owns. In an interview with Politico, McCain could not remember how many houses he has. (In fairness, it does seem complicated! He owns none. They're in his wife's name, and he only shares four with her; she has at least three other properties.)

Interesting article and it underlines the problem I have with American political analysis. It isn't political it's all about personality, slights and digs. I am trying to like the presidential election, I want to be intererested but time after time I find myself reading this garbage and people are trying to dissect it as if it had any more meaning than a cat fight. Bah, humbug!

Refusing to use the spellchick!

I have put you on ignore. No really, I have, but you are still ruining my enjoyment of this site. .

Unfortunately, politics seems to be more about a someone's popularity than someone's actual skills and abilities. In a way, it's a lot like high school -- if you're popular, you can get practically whatever you want and do whatever you want; if you're not, you're screwed.
