Glad you found out. It was easier for me to just track yours than explain how since I was going out. That package was 9 lbs, so there were several petitions going together across the pond. We mailed our P3 back on a Saturday before the end of May bank holiday and it took until the next Wednesday or Thursday to arrive according to the recorded delivery.

I love VJ too. I've picked up so many tips and tricks and learned alot from experience too.

I looked at the 9 lb one which shipped on the 19th. There was a 7 lb one shipped on the 20th. Both have arrived.

For anybody else, this is what I do using Sunnybears, which left Aug 19, as an example:

dhl.com

pick country as US

In menu, choose Track>By Reference

In reference box (for Sunny) EXP 18 AUG 2008A :star:Note it's the day before

In date boxes, I put Aug 19 to Aug 19 to see only packages leaving New Hampshire on Aug 19.

(An exception to this would be if there was a weekend...like a Friday ref may not go out until Monday)

Then find things going to London. If it says NEXT at the bottom, there's more pages.

If Sunny put in Aug 19 as the reference box number, she found a package that shipped Aug 20. For some reason the reference number is the day before the package is picked up. It must go to a mail room which generates the shipping, but pickup and leaving the place is always the next day.

And we don't know for certain if the date NVC says it left is the date they sent to the mail room or the date it really left with the DHL courier.

Are you confused yet?

But the best info is that London got a package on Thursday and Friday and one of those has Sunnybear's file.

ok I see now, thanks. I am going to fed-ex the package back to my parents in the UK (it went to them in the first place), and ask them to send it regular first class mail to the embassy. I should probably enclose two copies of everything, just in case that fails us and they have to send it again!

thanks!

When our information was sent to London I emailed the US Embassy and asked for a confirmation that they received it. I got an email directly back saying that they did not read it and it went directly to the deleted file due to security reasons. But the next day I received an email saying that they had received it and were sending out the information to Jonathan.

I was scared of it getting lost in the system that I wanted to check once it got to London.

Just a note to be aware of, though I know that it might be moot at this point anyway, is that the embassy only accept packages from the Royal Mail, and Fedex, possibly UPS, but I can't remember. I sent a bike courier over with my P3, and they sent it back. I believe they would do the same for any other delivery services.

Anyway, looks like you got a good plan with the fedex to parents and then royal mail from there.
