My fiance is from Pakistan, and I am wondering what my quickest option is for bringing her to the US is. How long is the K1 visa processing taking (until she arrives here)? how about k3?

Her mother and her sister have a US visit visa, so if I apply for her fiance visa, she can be accompanied by her mom/sis and get married here. The other option is to get married in pakistan and play the waiting game.

Which route you guys think is betteR? How long is K3 visa processing taking in pak? How much is the time after the interview?

What about K1?. Anyone know how long it takes to get K1 visa as well?

Thanks in advance.

As I said before. Forget about both K1 and K3 and do CR-1. Cheaper, easier than K3 and more guarens. May take a little longer but WAY worth it in the long run.

If you like the K visas then do the K1. Easiest of all.

K1 denied, K3/K4, CR-1/CR-2, AOS, ROC, Adoption, US citizenship and dual citizenship

!! ALL PAU!

K1 is easiest and you can be together while adjusting status. It is generally faster but more expensive than CR1. With CR1 you have to wait a long time apart. :(

To compare how long the various visas take to process, click on "Immigration Timelines" tab at the top of this page. Then click on K1, K3 and CR1 visas and compare, they have a list of average times by country. For more details, on the Immigration Timelines page click on the "Visa Timelines" mini tab above the charts; after you pick K1, K3 or CR1, you can filter results by your country and Consulate for more exact and recent results.

In my opinion it depends on where you live in U.S ,,, if you live in the North East ,, Main through Florida ..your k-3/CR-1 application goes through NVC which has longer turnaround time 2-4 months longer that CSC. The other thing about K-1 visa is its harder to prove “proof of relationship”, sure its expensive … and both CR-1 and K-3 visa’s are temporary for 2 years , after that you have to reapply to get a 10 year visa. In my opinion, if I where you …. I wouldn’t do any of the above visa’s I would apply for a DCF. I don’t know if Pakistan is a country where you can do DCF, but if that is available I recommend DCF. You have to stay for 3 months( req for India) to do DCF but… I have friends whose spouses are here in U.S within 5 months to the date of their marriage … go to the DCF tab to read more about the process

IMO, the choice should be between K-1 and CR-1 (K-3 don't even bother--entire concept behind this is FUBAR). For AandLKC--yes, one can do DCF in ISB.

i did k1 and it took 6 months. i think it's the faster and best way to bring your fiance to usa. about k3 and cr1 it take a long time 2 years to 3 years ouchhhh ...when you'll apply for k1 it will take between 2 to 3 months to approve your petition in usa then they will send it to NVC another month then NVC will send it to Pakistan for the interview another month or visa in hand but you have prepare your fiance for interview and add a lot of evidence to your case good luck

Based on this table, it looks like K3 is the quickest option, K3 takes about 260 days, where as K1 takes about 300 days. CR1 takes about 500 days, so thats the least preferred option. Is this about accurate? Is K3 generally faster than k1?

I live in US, and I checked the requirement is about 6 months for pakistan. Thanks for letting me know about this option, hadn't heard about it before. Is there any way to reduce this residency requirement?

I checked the timeline and it looks like K3 was a tad quicker than K1.. Can you please elaborate on why K3 should be avoided?

Basically, as I said the concept behind K-3 (a non-immigrant visa issued so that USC's spouse can hurry-up-and-wait until visa numbers are available) is FUBAR.

please explain why. if it is, then why do people apply for it? I understand that its more expensive, and there has to be a lot more paper work once the foreign citizen comes to the US, but isn't it quicker?

In the visa Proceses you have to file applications with two centers USCIS and NVC ....

For CR-1 Visa i-130 goes through the USCIS and the rest go through NVC ...I-864 and DS-230

For K-3 Visa i-130 and i-129f both goes through USCIS and once the spouse arrives to U.S ..then you deal with NVC.. by doing a AOS

FOR CSC ( California Service Center)

In my case it took almost 8 months to get my I-130 approved through USCIS (RFE) ... this is no longer the case ..now its more like 4 months ...but I-130/i-129f its going to take at least 7 months to get approved through USCIS..

the NVC process only takes 1.5-2 months ....

so

this timeline is for CSC

the math is 4-5 moths in USCIS = 2 months in NVC = 6-7 months for CR-1

or

6-7 months in USCIS for a K-3

It all depends on where you live in U.S …. CSC is much faster that NVC …. Read the blogs … people who filed in August/September 2008 is still waiting to be approved from NVC

There is no wait for an available visa number...

YMMV

Great thanks, yeah my processing will be with CSC.. I guess K3 is a better option then. Did you mean to say Aug/Sept 2007??
