Thanks to all,

We just applied for the US passport this Saturday and once that arrives, we will have to travel to San Franciso to appear at the Philippine embassy to apply for a new RP passport and duel citizenship. So immigration related items are not all behind us but at least the USCIS is.

Thanks again, Marilyn and Peter.

K-1 Timeline in Profile (our story)

Church wedding Sept 18

NOA1's for AOS/EAD received Sept 20 MSC #

Biometrics completed Nov 5 2004

EAD Approval Dec 29 2004

AOS appointment letter received Feb 3 2005

AOS interview scheduled for March 9 2005

AOS interview mostly fine, just need I-693 supplement filled out by civil surgeon

Spend another $40 for I-693 form, sent to local USCIS office registered mail, arrived March 11 2005

AOS finally approved March 25th 2005

Green card arrives about 10 days later

!!Green card has incorrect middle name!! Thanks USCIS

Travel back to Denver, turn in card and I-90 to correct their mistake.

Application accepted, asked for I-551 stamp, they told me "We don't do stamps anymore"

NOA1 for I-90 received from NSC April 18 2005, fee waived

NSC appears to have stoped processing I-90's

Marilyn needs to travel back to the RP, call Senators office for help with green card or I-551 stamp

Travel back to Denver July 1, 2005 and received I-551 stamp in the passport.

Just an FAQ for others doing the same. We went to the post office on August 23rd, 2008 on Saturday and submitted the request for Marilyn's US passport. The passport arrived in the mail today, less than two full weeks with just normal processing. Still haven't received her naturalization certificate yet but I understand they send it seperately.

Today, just one day later, we received Marilyn's naturalization certificate in a seperate envelope from the Department of State. Wow, that was really fast. Now, really the only thing left to do is to renew Marilyn's Philippines passport and apply for duel citizenship. From information taken from the website, it seems we may need to physically appear at the embassy in San Francisco. Jeez, can't we get a break? Does every part of this process have to cost us weeks of pay?

We have an 8:00 AM appointment this morning with the city clerk, certified by the DOS to accept passport applications. Not taking any chances and paying the extra hundred bucks or so for overnight and expedient service. But still wonder about that DS-11 form, sure states that a US birth certificate must have a raised seal on that piece of paper, but doesn't say a darn thing about the certificate of citizenship except it should be readable. I am going to request that certificate be insured for $500.00. Still seems way overpriced, have to supply the application, two passport photos, and the money for a piece of paper with just some very brief typing on it, glue on the photo, hit it with a seal and send it back. Maybe paying 30 bucks for an eight year driver's license is a bargain after all.

Also learned I may be eligible for a refund on my own expedited passport application and did file a formal complaint finally that they never returned my birth certificate.

So tired of dealing with agencies, one part of their vocabulary that is certainly missing are the words "thank you". Like to pay my property taxes in person, and asked the county treasurer if part of that huge check covers her paycheck. She did say, yes, well can't you even say thank you for receiving it? Give some people a little authority and they think they are Adolph Hitler.

Wife's most recent comment about her USC, really concerned about our government now, her country was changed from a democracy to a dictatorship in a short period of time by electing the wrong liar. If it can happen there, can happen here, she makes a good point. With the USCIS, really can't say much for the alien, but as a USC, sure feel that my rights have been infringed upon. How do you feel?

Well goodbye to my wife's certificate of citizenship and hello to checking on-line status and the mailbox again for her passport and certificate. With those two in, will that really be the end of this?

Clerk of court said she is there to track it down in case of loss and I should be more trusting, he, told her, use to be that way until dealing with the USCIS and the DOS.

Wife was in full agreement to pay the extra hundred bucks for overnight and expedient service, while we are both very frugal, just want peace of mind. And only a drop in the bucket for what we spent so far.
