We have just received out interview date of September 4th and as some may know we are using a co-sponsor, Megan's Step-Father.

So we have and I-134 prepared and notarised for both Megan and her Step-Father. Last 3 years tax transcripts for both. Letter of employment for both and a notarised letter of intent for Megan and I to be married. Is this everything we need to meet the financial requirements laid out by the poverty guidleines? Is this covering everything that the London Embassy will ask for, for both Megan and her Step-Father????

Thanks in advance.

You could put in a couple of recent pay stubs, but what you have sounds good enough. Is the letter on company letterhead? Does it state the salary? Does it say it's a permanent position or that he's worked there x number of years? It just needs to look official and show some stability that the income is reliable, not a one month contract job that will end next week, if you follow me.

From me they took a photocopy of my 2007 tax return and a letter from employer. There were some bank statements and other things thrown in the folder just in case, but they weren't interested in more than two pieces of evidence of income.

do you have a copy of co-sponsors birth cert or passport or something else to prove US citizenship. I came through on co-sponsor and that was one of the things they asked for.

This is in the I-864 and it tends to define an Affidavit of Support in detail.

Proof of U.S. citizen, national, or permanent resident status is required for joint and substitute sponsors and for relatives of employment-based immigrants who file this form. Petitioning relatives who have already filed proof of their citizenship or immigration status with Forms I-130, Form I-129F, I-600 andI-600A do not need to submit proof of their status with this form.

(so that would be you the sponsor since you already proved your citizenship in the initial application. But the co-sponsor hasn't proven citiizenship yet so it's possible they could ask for some proof.)

Proof of U.S. citizen or national status includes a copy of your birth certificate, certificate of naturalization, certificate o fcitizenship, consular report of birth abroad to citizen parents, or a copy of the biographic data page of your U.S. passport.

Proof of permanent resident status includes a photocopy of both sides of the "green card," Form I-551, Alien Registration Receipt Card/Permanent Resident Card; or a photocopy of an unexpired temporary I-551 stamp in either a foreign passport or a DHS Form I-94, Arrival/Departure Document

(If the co-sponsor is a legal permanent resident.)

Interesting, because I've never heard this mentioned and yet so many people get co-sponsors. London Packet 3 page 8 tells about the Affidavit and how you can create you own and what to include. It mentions if you are doing your own instead of the I-134, you should state if you are a natural born citizen, etc. But nowhere does it say to bring some proof when talking about the Affidavit of Support.

Megan--maybe you better photocopy Dad's picture page from his passport if he has one.
