Hi there,

I think depende sa place cguro. Here in my place too bad i don't have a permit yet, i am getting couple of job offers already. Some of them told me it's okay even if i don't have the SSN yet but since i am afraid i will have problems with immigration if i work without permit i just told them i need to have a work permit for me to start working.

Good luck, sana makahanap kana agad ng work sa place nyo.

It depends, like me I'm an RN in PI and after 3mos, I found a job. At first I was told that you have to have an experience, so I searched if there's a volunteer that needed in our area. But luckily I got hired,I started from the bottom position but now I'm in a good position. I am also working on my RN license here. Don't rush, relax and you will find a job soon!

Ohio isn't one of the better states to get a job unless you have some special job skills.

First of all, you have to have a work permit to be able to have a job. Next, you shouldn't be picky when getting a job as a starter here in the US. As soon as I got my notice of Authorization to work I applied on-line and in person and was hired right away.

Working at the Retirement Village as Diner Food Server. A nice environment and people are pretty nice. I have competitive pay and full benefits which is really good as a starter. Aside from that since I can't drive yet, its just a mile away from my husband's work and we have the same work time, a big bonus for us both!!!

This is a tough one to answer. The answers depends on many factors. For example. where you are (location), what you do (your skill set), and how determined you are to find a job.

If you're a nurse, or pharmacist for example, then you wont have a problem finding a job no matter where you are in the US. You're probably get one as soon as you get your license. I know one hospital here in California alone needs over 100 nurses.

If your a computer analyst, technician, etc, you wont have a problem finding a job in say... San Francisco or New York or any other big cities. But if you live in places like Palm Desert or other remote areas in the US, then tough luck.

If you're willing to take ANY job, then chances are you'll find one anywhere in the US.

I agree.. One of the big problems for newbies is driving. Usually, they either dont know how to drive, or needs to get a license, or car, etc... and there's usually no one to drive them around. so if you're schedule is similar to your hubby and you work close to your hubby then its a big bonus.

Fortunately my wife is a nurse so she wont have a problem looking for a job. Our immediate problem right now is transportation. We just recently got her a driving permit and I'm teaching her how to drive while she's studying for her RN license exam. So when she gets her exam and gets a job, then she would also have a driver's license already. But even then we will look for a job that is close to home since she's a "new" driver.

New York City is probably the only place I know in America where transportaion is not a problem and newbies would be able to get around without knowing how to drive or not having a car.

Claudeth found her first job at the Hyatt in Irvine with no trouble. She didn't like working in the kitchen so she went to Sears and was immediately hired as a sales clerk.

i think getting a job in the states isn't difficult, but one should be realistic about the jobs they can take, along with pay. someone with a high school diploma won't get a job as a rocket scientist at nasa making 200k a year, for example.

word of mouth, hard work, and luck play an important role. and don't forget that you can move to a better paying job when it appears - you're not tied to that first job for life.
