I once had two guys in NYC sit there and get me to say: Boat, About, and anything where they could attempt to hear me go: "oo" and after every word they laughed.

:(

I'm really surprised how many people here I have talked to who have been to Canada. And they all said they loved it up there.

I enjoy the Canadian jokes but I haven't met anyone yet who really believes that we live in igloos, we all have dog sleds, etc.

We're born with ice skates on, and wear parkas year round. Our mail comes by dog sled right to our igloos front door passage. We don't have malls, we just the Americans have the Hudson Bay. We can ALL speak French and yes we ALL hate Quebec. We don't celebrate any of the same holidays as the rest of the world, and our "president" is the Bonhomme Tim Horton.

I don't think it is that bad all the time, but you do get people who have NO IDEA at all.

Was it the Air Farce that did that segment where they would ask random Americans questions about Canada?

"How is Canada going to fill up Dalton McGuinty's hole?" and people would answer: "With trash" "with cement"

The best thing I got was just recently, I went to get a pedicure and the girl and I were casually chatting and I told her I was Canadian. She then said "woah, how come you are speaking English then?

I said..."because Canadians speak English. Some of us speak French."

She then said "So Canada is like it's own country then....?"

I just smiled and nodded.

She wasn't even an American so how could she not understand about different countries?!??!

I think she was here illegally cause she said her Dad came here from like Guatemala and brought her when she was like 2 and recently they took away his SSN! She said she has been stuck in the system for years and has no legal rights here.

Who knows!
