Hi All,

Since i am helping my wife to fill out DS-230 form part 1 & part II. On Part II which I know she has to fill infront of the interviewer or atleast sign it. On Part II it is asking permission to share the info with Social security administration(SSA) and SSA will use this info to issue a social security card. My question is on Part II of DS230, can I write my wife married name instead of madien name so she will not have to change the name again eventhough on Part I I have used her maiden name.

I hope my question make sense.

Thank you

Sham

My lawyer advised me to put my married name and told me that nvc they would know the name change was because of marriage......

however i did call NVC and let them know after they recieved the form and they noted it in their system...........

I think, it is better to put the married name on the marriage certificates, documents during the time of marriage. That way, one can have same last name in all documents, applications.

I-130 Timeline with USCIS:

It took 92 days for I-130 to get approved from the filing date

NVC Process of I-130:

It took 78 days to complete the NVC process

Interview Process at The U.S. Embassy

Interview took 223 days from the I-130 filing date. Immigrant Visa was issued right after the interview
