Hi everyone,

I filed for adjustment of status back in October 2005, everything was fine as far as communication with the USCIS is concerned ,suddenly in january they sent me an email saying '' our last writen notice was returned as undeliverable.....'' i never moved or changed my address but unfortunatelly I never received the mail .Since I already made the fingerprints for the I-485 ,i imagined it was the interview letter .From january to april I've been calling the customer lines services and each time they gave me confirmation numbers proving that I called. In the meantime I email the CSC on the 27th of march to see if they knew where my file is ,they answered 2 weeks later saying that my file was in phoenix. Unfortunatelly, I received a denial letter of my i-485 application cancelling my work permit and my social security number on April 11 2006 and the reason was the failure to appear to an interview.once again,I never receive the interview letter.

Thanks to the support of the members of this site and Grouchy in particular, I filed a motion to reopen my case and i went for an infopass ,the officer was not very helpful,so i paid 385 dollars to reopen the case and she said it will take a year or more to do so and it was not even sure that they were going to do it. So ,i paid and file the form I -290B and explain with all the proofs that i had that I never received the mail calling me to an interview and send the copy of the file plus the evidence to Chicago lockbox on april 28th before the expiration of 30 days. On May 1st ,my husband called the senator John Mc Cain office ( thank God for that great man) and explain everything to a lady in his office , they said they'll make an inquiry .

Today May the 20th almost a month after I filed the motion to reopen,I received my interview letter for june,02 ,2006. I'm so excited :D .

my thoughts to you all is that normally after the I-485 biometrics ,the next mail is the interview letter ,if it takes a long time and you don't hear anything for your file, make an infopass appointment just to see and most of all keep your faith in God. My journey is not over but at least my file is back on track i'm no more out of status. Thank you all and thank you Anastasia.

Hi Marie Clo, Congratuations for your coming interview! And I have some questions for you if you don't mind, before you received the last undelivered mail notice, did you have any notice from them through e-mail? I was wondering if my case is transferred to my local office, am I supposed to be noticed through e-mail? Because I and my husband've been waiting for the interview notice almost six months, because we were requested for an additional evidence, it made us to have a big huge difference from my other friends' cases.(their all process are only 3 months). I did make an infopass appointment, all officers of that local office were not helpful at all, eventhough I tried to talk and asked them nicely and clearly, they didn't even have an intention to listen to me. And actually I already did two biometrics for I-765 and I-485 on Feb.8, 06, but I still haven't gotten anything yet.(even my work permit). I went to my local office twice, what I got was just one temporary work permit, which is good until June 4, 2006, but I still haven't gotten my work permit approval until now. I am afraid that the MSC might lose my case, and will never open it again. I and my husband are so agitated and want to do something but don't know how to start. Even the lawyer said we can't do anything beside waiting for them to open our case, and one unfriendly officer at my local office said I can't check my case from the processing time from the website either because we were requested for the addtional evidence, everything is delayed because of that. If anyone has this kind of experiece please advise me. Thank you so much. Good luck for your interview!

P.S. I called the customer service recently concerning my work permit, that officer just submitted a referral to the National Service(as he told me), and gave me a referral number, and he said that I have to make an appointment with my local office again before my temporary work permit is expired, and if I don't received my work permit within 30 days I have to call them again and refer to this referral number. I'm so sick of this, and how long would it be? And how many more appointment I have to make?, please share your experience. Thanks again.

Hi Pat,

Before the email telling me '' our last written notice was returned as undeliverable.....'' , I did not receive any emails from the USCIS , only that day. It's true that infopass is not always helpful, because I myself met immigration officers who either listened to me but could not do anything or was not interested by me. So to discover that my file is in my local USCIS office , I sent an email to this address CSC-XII.485@dhs.gov

they answered 2 weeks later , telling me where was my application. In the meantime I contacted the senator office to inquire my case. Since the wait was making me crazy ,I was writing mails almost every week. I sent a status inquiry to USCIS-NBC P.O. Box 648005 Lee's Summit, MO 64064 ,till now they have not answered me. I also wrote to Citizenship and Immigration services Ombudsman ATTN : Case problems,United States Department of Homeland Security 245 Murray Lane Mail stop, 1225 Washington D.C. 20528-1225 , they answered 3 weeks later saying that they're making an inquiry and will let me know in 45 days.Fortunatelly, the interview came before that time. Sincerely ,I think God helped me and also the fact I was sending mails ( certified) all over the place to know what's going on. I will also advise you to not panic a lot ,all the mails I sent were because I'm not patient and it makes me panic ,normally if you've a good senator in your area it should be ok but if you're bitting your nails and are  as i was , send mails it won't hurt you.
