So my situation. I have an interview date for the K3 on the 5th September in London. Howerver i am nearly done at the NVC with my CR-1. The NVC should have everything today to finish off the processing of my case, after having a RFE and also re sending the DS-230 because i noticed a possible RFE before they have processed it.

Anyone wanna have a go at guessing the odds of being completed at NVC in time for it to get to London embassy for the 5th?

Well, it depends if you just got approved and they haven't started anything at the NVC then yes, it'll take that long if the shortcuts and online processing are not followed.

But based on your post it sounds like you're almost done with them meaning they already processed the DS-3032, AOS fee bill, IV fee bill, I-864 and they should be getting the DS-230. Is this correct? If so, then it will take them about two weeks to complete your case and then schedule your appointment during the first two weeks of September. I wonder if you can call them or the embassy after they complete your case and see if they can simply forward your case to the embassy so you can be interviewed on the 5th for the CR1 visa, instead of the K3. It's worth a shot.

If you are at the last step waiting for NVC to review DS-230 and I-864, I think you can make it. :-)

Well, i think i'm dreaming. Just spoke to someone at NVC they told me it will take to 2 -3 months for processing at the NVC.

Hi Roca

Don't know why they told you that, other than that's there official processing guestimate.

We spent 5 weeks and 5 days between USCIS approval and NVC case complete, so it shouldn't take 2-3 months if they now have everything. We sent our info 20th June and it showed on the system 24th June then our case was completed 1st July (so about a week from showing on automated system as received and case completed. I then had my interview a month later on 1st August.

From our experience I'd say you might just possibly get it through on time, which would definintely be good as it'll save you from having to AOS once you get stateside.

For the benefit of others reading this, if you live in the UK please DON'T use the K3, it won't save you any time and will just give you more headaches and expense once your stateside. We filed K3 too, but we got stuck in the receipting blackhole at the end of last year when they started transferring from filing at service centers to the Chicago Lockbox. Because we had to wait nearly 3 months after filing the I-130 before we could file the I-129f our I-130 was approved before the I-129f so we didn't have to worry about which one got to NVC/Consulate first. Honestly the days of the K3 getting you to your loved one quicker are over for now.

Hope you get the CR1/IV1 to the consulate in time.

Lyn

Worst case you interview for K3, then you go back for the CR1 interview.

Best case (which I hope works out for you), you get case complete and they interview for CR1 at the K3 scheduled interview!
