CR-1/IR-1 case. Do i still need to attend CFO???

Hi fellow VJ'ers....i'm getting paranoid na in reading a lot of posts here in VJ, but enjoy naman ako & very infomative talaga...One question lang, i'm on IR-1 case, my husband in the US is a Permanent Resident card holder & he's also a Filipino, do i still need to attend CFO? or is it for Filipino who's going to marry or married to a foreigner only?

Hi there!

I was married February 2007.

I was required to get CFO when I have leave for Korea.

Now that I had my US VISA on hand, I renewed CFO certificate I got last year.

I think even if you're status is CR-1/IR-1 you still have to get CFO.

yes, if you are leaving the Philippines to live permanently in another country, then you are required to have CFO seminar... CFO is required for all emmigrants.

As suggested by the website at www.cfo.gov.ph,

"Filipino emigrants or those leaving the country to settle permanently abroad are required to register with the Commission on Filipinos Overseas (CFO)."

Only people who are currently living permanently in the Philippines is required to register at CFO and attend the seminar. Since your husband lives now in the US, he is not required to attend as he is not permanently living in the the Philippines regardless if he is a filipino or not.

After the interview as you have to show your visa that you are really leaving the Philippines

check the cfo.gov.ph website.. there is a contact number as well which you can call..to get directions.

everyone who is leaving PI is required to do CFO unless ur on tourist or student visa..good luck!! just one day of ur time wouldn't hurt!
