Olivia- I start classes Monday also, but the great part is my first class starts at 5:30pm. yea, bad news but yet good news is Dr. Scott called me and I am starting my first internship, she was not as awful as I thought she would be, so it looks like my first internship will be in the ER, OMG, I go in Friday for my interview. So now for the next term I will be loaded down with classes while interning I should be fired by the Christmas holidays.

For all my fellow insomniacs I am with you, don't know how I will function when I have to really be on top of my work with little sleep, oh can't wait for that. I wish I could function with just a couple of hours of sleep; I could get so much done, and not feel like I was beaten up.

I bet you can make it through! There are some women that work and go to school and manage a family with young children. I lovingly call these women super women!

See ya around the night owl's chats then.

I'll be there too starting next week

I'm going to a new campus this semester (closer  but smaller) and their library closes at 10pm  that's about when I'm done with my classes  which means I get to go home to try to do homework while listening to my husband gab away in arabic

Oh well, that's what weekends are for :P

Well best wishes to you as well. Is there a 24hr coffee shop you can retreat to? Sometimes I have several study spots picked out other than the library.

I usually try the Denny's by my house, but it's the only 24hr operation around. I might see if the starbucks up by school is open until at least 11pm.

I'm also thinking with Ramadan that I might just wake up and go to the coffe place to study after fajr - around 6am. I don't have to be at work until 8am so that will give me some time and I can get more sleep at night.

Usually outside the University Library's there is a room with vending machines and bathrooms that is open 24hrs for people to have a quiet place to study when the library is closed. At least at the Universities I've attended. If there is more than one University in you city then you might try another University campus. If not Denny's is alright and I have had many a cram sessions at the local coffee shops.

Where there is one scorpion there is usually two.

Doing the mating dance.

Life Cycle

Scorpions have a complex mating ritual in which the male uses his pedipalps to grasp the female's pedipalps. The male then leads her in a "courtship dance". The details of courtship vary from species to species, with some even exhibiting a deliberate and prolonged "sexual sting" by the male. The sperm from the male is contained within a structure called a spermatophore, which is deposited by the male on a surface over which the female is pulled. The male sweeps his pectines over the ground surface to help locate a suitable place to deposit his spermatophore. The female draws the sperm into her genital pore, which is located near the front ventral (under) side of her abdomen.

Scorpions have a long gestation period (from several months to over a year, depending on species) in which the young develop as embryos in the female ovariuterus or in specialized diverticula that branch from the ovariuterus. The young are born live and ascend their mother's back. She assists them by making a "birth basket" with her folded legs to catch them as they are born and to provide them with a means to climb to her back. A few Old World species do not form birth baskets.

On average, a female gives birth to about 25-35 young. They remain on her back until they molt for the first time. The white colored young have been seen to climb down off the mothers back, molt then return to the mothers back for another 4-5 days before leaving for good, usually within one to three weeks after birth. Once they climb down, they assume an independent existence, and periodically molt to reach adulthood. Typically five or six molts over two to six years are required for the scorpion to reach maturity.

The average scorpion probably lives three to five years, but some species may live up to 25 years. A few scorpions exhibit social behaviors beyond the mother-young association, such as forming over-wintering aggregations, colonial burrowing, and perhaps even living in extended family groups that share burrows and food.

Didn't you know Miami is THE place where you will find just about any reptile or bug or insect.... there is/was a large import ring for exotic and outlawed reptiles, ect.... the tropical enviroment and the fact that we are encroaching on the everglades means that we have things here scarier than scoripions - and we have scorpions too!

There is a reason they have "Animal Cops: Miami" on Animal Planet

Hey Bridget - remember those long sleeve tees you posted and I said I ordered some too from the link you provided? Did you get yours? I got mine and I (L) them! They are so comfy and light - perfect for wearing underneath another top. Cheers girl - thanks for the link!

I'm wearing my white one now! BUT..................you moroccans and your tumeric!!:angry::angry: I have a HUGE yellow stain in the front and it's a part NOT covered by my sundress that I'm wearing over it so it looks like my kids played with a yellow hilighter on my new shirt!!! How do I get the tumeric stain out of my clothes? I have it all over one of my pants too. (yes I wiped my hands on my pants after cooking that chicken and french fries recipe  )

Sorry, Bridget, I lost it when I read this. I'm sorry about your shirt. I've only gotten it on old t-shirts so far, so I haven't learned how to get it out (I did turn my sister's spatula yellow, but I think that will fade in time :innocent:). I read that if you wash clothes in cold water or put lemon juice on the stains and then dry them in the sun they will fade after a couple of washings, but I haven't put that to the test yet.

my hubby is 1/2 moroccan 1/2 tunisian and we use alot of tumeric ie corcum and my spatulas never returned back to normal. i have a concrete table and the stains take FOREVER to fade. i bleach it out of white clothes though. the funny thing is when i go to the nail salon and they see yellow hands they say OH you were cooking they know yellow fingers is a sign i was making a mess in the kitchen.
