Indian passport will say single, applied for K3

Hello All,

Hope somebody can answer this. My spouse's passport was applied for when we were engaged. Now she is married. Her passport should be coming next month and marital status on passport would be single. The issue date for the passport will be of next month but her status is married.

Would this cause any issue in during K3 interview which has been applied for? Has somebody gone through this scenario before. I don't want to change her marital status on passport because I think it will take long time to do that in India.

Please advise.

Thanks.

Thanks for your responses.

1) I don't think it would be necessary to reapply for the passport to have the spouse name on the biographic page. Please confirm?

2) Do I need to have the endorsement of spouse name done on the passport for K3 (since the passport is going to be issued after marriage)? How long does this take?

I think Applicaton Form 2 is used for endorsement of spouse. The same form is used to get police clearance certificate. So perhaps, I can do both at the same time.

[/color] Unless there are other mistakes like miss matched surnames..address etc , I don’t recommend that you re-apply to add spouse name

I would consider endorsing the spouse’s name inside the passport; if you submit the passport before noon you will get it by 4:00 PM. It’s a one day procedure

AandLKC, thanks for your answers. I think endorsing the passport is the better option.
