Our case was entered into NVC system 6 days ago, I already have the IIN number.

On the website neither bill has been invoiced yet, and the answering machine still gives the "THe case number assigned..." message. I look at a lot of other recent petitions and many people have listed that NVC received the case and generated the DS 3032 on the same day or within 1-2 days of each other.

Is it possible to email the DS 3032 now or should we really wait for the bill to be generated and how long does it take on average?

Thanks,

Andrei

Privet,

it is not a 1-2 days, takes up to a week to get the "3032 and AOS bill" message. Maybe some just miss few days, not checking daily. Ours took a few days between they received it, then a day or two later assigned the case #, 4 days later 3032 and AOS bill generated.

Do not send 3032 yet, they will not process it until it is generated. Same with bills and other papers, wait until generated, then pay or send. This way it will not get lost on someone's desk or filed to places unknown.

see my signature for the processing times, we are trying to make things as fast as we can.

Any idea how busy Moscow embassy is? I'm trying to get some kind of idea how long it would be to get the interview date.

We are curious about it too..

not sure for now, just a guess it might be 1.5-2 months after the NVC case complete, but hopefully less.. I think I read somewhere that generally it's about 6 weeks, but depends on their workload. Also I looked at their website, they have a listing of scheduled interviews by case #s, and it's usually booked about 1.5 months ahead.

Unfortunately, no online inquiry for NVC. It would really make everyone's life simpler if there were one... :(

Also, don't email. I made that mistake and regretted it. It took nearly 2 weeks to get a response and by then we were already done with the NVC stage. Also, I don't know if it might have contributed to a false RFE being sent out/possibly some lost paperwork for awhile near the end of our NVC process. Stick to memorizing your case number, being able to repeat it with the beneficiary's name and date of birth and petitioner's name and date of birth in your sleep, and putting the NVC's phone number on your phone's speed dial! Such frustration. I think I called the NVC at least 40 times during our case...

Long story short, we have a complicated case. We've been at this for nearly 5 years. You can read our story here. I highly recommend our attorney Laurel Scott, as well as attorneys Laura Fernandez and Lizz Cannon .

Filed I-130 via CSC in Feb 2008. Petition approved June 2008. Consular interview in Mexico, Oct 2008, visa denied, INA 212a6cii. We allege improper application of the law in this case.

2012, started over in Seoul: I-130 filed DCF on 7/2, I-130 approved 8/8, Medical at Yonsei Severance 11/20, IR1 appointment in November 2012.

CRBA filed 1-3-13 at Seoul for our daughter

as soon as i got the IIN, on the website it immediately says AOS fee "NOT PAID." that means it has been invoiced.. the stupid AVR kept saying "NVC received your petition on blah blah blah.. case number assigned is blah blah blah.." never changed until i paid the AOS bill online. then it changed to "the NVC has received your AOS fee bill on.. " as soon as the AOS bill was invoiced, i emailed NVC.

i don't recommend emailing right now. takes forever for NVC to receive it.. better for you to just generate your own DS-3032 using James' Shorcut for generating your own barcode then send it in via snail mail.. after a billion failed attempts at emailing (i couldn't get an auto response,) i finally succeeded making a new account for my husband with GMAIL. well, that took 12 days for NVC to receive.

It's possible the ds-3032 and AOS had been generated, but the AVR hasn't updated to reflect that. The NVC operators can see more recent info on their computers. Maybe that is why he was able to get his IIN now?

The case number was assigned on 8/13, I called the next day and the operator just gave me the IIN number. Had to ask specifically for Invoice Identification Number, she didn't quite understand what "IIN" was.

#######....I just tried for the 4th time....I just don't have the phone appeal I guess.

I put on my absolute, "I'm your best friend, hope you're not having a bad day" posture.

Whereas the first two operators (on different days) told me that it had not been generated....

the third one told me that she had not been trained on that, and that since the system was still in an experimental stage, she couldn't give it out.

She did confirm that she could see it on her screen, but again was reluctant to tell me what it is.

So there's the skinny on the IIN, it's generated at the same time as your NVC number.

When you will have access to it, is another mystery.

Is it possible to email the DS 3032 now or should we really wait for the bill to be generated and how long does it take on average?

NVC - NVC Timesavers, Emailing your DS-3032, Knowing your Case Number

Suggestions

* Once the USC receives the AOS (I-864) Bill and the copy of the DS-3032 one can save time by emailing or faxing a copy of the DS-3032 Choice of Agent form to the beneficiary overseas who then selects the agent, signs the form and returns it to the address on the form. Doesn't save much but it saves the mailing time from NVC to the spouse.

* Have the beneficiary (now the applicant) fill out the DS-230 and send it to the USC if they are to be the agent....this can be done at any time before the DS-230 is generated at NVC. Once it is generated it will be sent to the agent, the signed copy with the cover sheet (that the agent will receive) which has the barcode can then be mailed to NVC.

* Have the beneficiary (now the applicant) forward any documents, photocopies etc that may be required to be submitted with the DS-230 to you ahead of time. Check out the Department of State website HERE

Scroll down and select the Instructions for Visa Immigrant Applicant appropriate for the country of your spouse. Forms are also available there for you to download but please check to see if they are the latest version.

* Complete the I-864 which is also available in the above link for download. When NVC generates this form it comes to you with a barcode cover sheet which you will then need to return along with your completed I-864 form.

IMPORTANT

Familiarise yourself with the NVC PROCESS & FLOWCHART for an Immigrant Visa so you know the order in which forms will be generated and what is sent to the USC (petitioner) and your spouse (beneficiary/applicant) to be completed.

NVC Automated Voice Response Service

So your I-130 petition has been approved and forwarded to NVC

Now you are wanting to know if it has been received and a case number assigned

You can use your CIS (NOA) receipt number from your approval to find out.

On calling the NVC automated voice response number (603) 334-0700 you will.... press 1 for English press 2 for Spanish

press 1 for information about your immigrant visa

It will then ask you if you know your CIS receipt number.....press 1

(Once you have a case number you can use this.....press 2)

You then follow the instructions to key in your number.

If will then tell you if NVC has received the petition, and assigned a number.

This automated service is available 24/7.

Once you have your case number you can call them at any time to hear any updates on your case, using either the NVC case number or your CIS (NOA) receipt number.

Choice of Agent

Many are having success in emailing the NVC to choose their agent in place of mailing the DS-3032. NVC generally sends a confirmation email within a couple of days. If not you will need to call to confirm that it has been accepted.

NVCINQUIRY@state.gov

Make sure to put your NVC assigned Case Number in the subject/title box.

Example for body of email:

Dear Sir or Madam,

Re the subject line case number

My name is (put full name),

I have not received my DS-3032 (Choice of Agent) form and I would like to appoint my husband/wife as my choice of agent.

His/her name is (full name)(Full mailing address)

All correspondence from the U.S. Department of State (National Visa Center) concerning my immigration visa application should be sent to my appointed agent at the address above. Thank you.
