OK - what do you all think about this....

My fiance had his interview on February 23,2010. After the interview he was given a paper that said "congrats blah blah blah - you will receive your visa withing 8 days via DHL".... two weeks later and still not passpport my fiance called the embassy and was told "oh -- you have to come in for an orientation and after you will receive your passport with visa" (this was on March 22,2010) .... Went to orientation and yep as you probably guessed still not visa stating still in AP.

It's just about 3.5 weeks later and we are going crazy not knowing if the file is in security clearance or some other type of processing .... because as I'm sure everyone on this forum knows calling the DOS is just a lovely experience and one that you dont get any real information from.

So last night I told my fiance that maybe he should try contacting the embassy from his side and ask for a status. Which he did and of course was told still in processing and they would call him when ready.

Not 10 minutes after I received this message from my fiance the embassy was calling me to ask me questions about myself as well as pretty much the same information that was asked of my fiance during the interview ---:wacko:

A bit different than "oh you will have your visa within 8 days". Obviously they are looking for something more.

I asked the CO after all the questions what was to happen next and he said it looked very positive.

I'm having slight heart palpititions from the stress (JUSt KIDDING)... but really this is pure AGONY.

This not knowing is really really bad!!!

Wellmux - thanks for the info I have been trying to figure out this time frame myself according to the email the petition was sent to NVC for processing which means they will do what ever for ever how long and according to NVC if it doesn't require any additional processing it will be sent to the Embassy and yes they can veto it again but not for the same reason so we are a bit nervous but I have about 20 days planned vacation that can only be taken during this time I am hoping his interview will be then and I can go with him. Any knowledge of what we can expect is greatly appreciated.

Malarie - sorry I don't have a clue what is going on I wish you luck. Just try and relax it seems lately alot of people are finding this whaole process alot more difficult than it use to be. Stay positive.

You're right, it is AGONY! Sorry to hear about the AP, but it does seem rather inevitable for MENA males. Here's hoping your case will be short. At least you know they are working on it if they're calling you to ask questions. Best of luck and keep us posted on what happens next!

Muslimqueen-from what I have observed over the past 2 years it is usually a week or two before you will hear from the Embassy however DOS will sometimes let you know the AP is done then you can email the embassy for an update however I think it all just runs it's course and we just have to have faith in the system and hope at the end the visa is issued they say good things are worth waiting for - LOL hopefully I will know that in a couple of months

Yes it is possible for you to be told AP one day and the next day be requested for passport. In fact I called DOS 2 separate days and then on the 3rd they told me for the last 2 weeks Embassy was trying to call, but they never told us. There have been some cases where the applicant calls DOS just to be told Still In AP. and they have already received their passport via courier the same day. so good luck to u.

so my wife went on Thursday. Reached the embassy at 1:30...was out by 2:30 with the VISA.....oh my God!!! After a year of this crappy process,it is finally over.. Thanks a lot to everyone on VJ. I wouldnt have gotten through this without all the advice and support.

Then we bought her ticket and out of all the airlines, we chose AIR FRANCE....So we all know what happened with the whole Ashes and airport closures. So the utter happiness plummeted pretty fast. Her flight got cancelled but some good persistent hounding of the airport officials and she got put on a direct flight from dubai to Usa. I should be seeing her in the next 12 hrs. I will update you guys with her POE experience.

Thanks again everyone and please, Update me on the spreadsheet :)
