Me again. Feeling frustrated. I know that all of us are subject to delays at any point during the application process, and it's par for the course. If I had been told that I was in AP at the interview it still would have been annoying, but it would have been easier to deal with. I walked away from the embassy thinking - great, it's over! For almost three weeks my husband and I started putting our plans into action. My trip to the States. Holidays. I was tying loose ends, closing accounts, packing stuff to be shipped, saying my goodbyes. People were affected by our decisions. And now it's all up in the air...

Here's hoping that we're all out of this limbo as soon as possible, all with approvals of course :)

I hear you treehugger. AP is like purgatory for both the beneficiary and the petitoner. It is one more bump in the road that we did not bargain for. The frustrating thing for me is I can't help but think they had enough time for these "background checks" earlier in the process. Why would they wait until after an interview to sock us with another delay??? So bogus! I thought that's why the process was taking so long in USCIS and NVC. Harumph! That's my gripe for the day

NVC:

2009-09-11 - NVC received.

2009-12-17 - Case complete e-mail message, sign in failed on website and AVR... YAY!

2009-12-17 - Waiting for an appointment assignment...

2009-12-29 - Interview assigned: February 11, 2010!

2010-01-06 - Case forwarded to consulate.

Consulate:

2010-01-12 - Medical exam part 1 of 2 complete.

2010-01-26 - Medical exam part 2 of 2 complete. Ouchie!

2010-02-11 - Interview results: Administrative Processing 221(g) :-(

2010-04-27 - 2nd interview results: Approved :-)

2010-05-04 - Visa in hand!

I'm sorry, I didn't realise that I was griping, and that it was going to turn into a 'who's been in AP the longest' contest. Many posters, myself included, turn to these forums for support - we're all undertaking the same process and supposedly understand what we're all going through in a way those that are not invloved don't.

I was simply expressing my frustration at being in AP when I had no reason to expect that I ever would be - as a British female born and bred applying through London AP is hardly the norm, unlike MENA males applying from a third country, for example. I was also simply saying that had I been told I was in AP whilst I was at the embassy, it would have been just that little bit easier to deal with, instead of finding out almost three weeks later having already made plans, booked tickets, closed accounts etc.

I now know better.

You didn't say or do anything wrong and we are here for support I just felt like venting trust me I know how you feel the initial shock and the first couple of weeks are the hardest after that it does get a little easier. I do try and be positive because I do believe that the longest part is behind me. I do hope lots of people get their visas quickly. Sorry you bot offended. I wish you luck

So, today DOS called me and left a message and returned my call regarding my inquiry. Told me the same that we are in AP and they can not predict the time it will be complete. But, it was nice that someone returned my call and looking at our case. Congressmens office told me to give it 7 more days since the consulate has been updating me weekly.

Thanks for the prayers Bridget.

Good luck to you Starlight95. I'm looking forward to hearing good news from anybody in AP. We're overdue!

I called and had a really nice DOS visa specialist answer today. I like it best when they read the notes and give details. I don't know why some do and some don't. It really makes a difference.

Thank you for your prayers for all of us. That must be frustrating that the consulate is not responsive, but don't worry all this waiting is going to pay off and we will be reunited with our SO's soon as that is the best part of the journey :). I would be so happy even if anyone on this tracker gets some good news. I am also praying for each one of you, as we are all in this together.

Hi there,

Thank you and good luck to you as well :). Yes, I do have similar experience with DOS specialists as well. When they do read the details its very informative, and then their our others that just seem to say the usual AP word.

The wait is very tough because we are at the last stage now of this visajourney and its just the clearance now.

It does look a little ominous, but it doesn't look like 'bad news' to me Bridget. Instead, it looks like 'no news'. I'm still at the stage where I get 'no news' responses regarding my case. I think they have some protocol where they have to answer within a certain timeframe even if there are no changes. They are keeping you in the loop while meeting that protocol. The Lagos consulate only responded directly to my senator regarding his inquiry on my case. It took them a while and then they told him the same thing they told me: no news! Your senator's office will likely contact you soon with this "non-update." I hope you hear something this week. If not, you should definitely follow up with your senator regarding this response.

Hang in there! They can't torture us forever. I am 40 days into this AP and the agony is starting to subside just a little. It is still miserable, but not as miserable as day 1, truth be told. Just waiting with bated breath for some favorable activity...
