Unbelievable, I am so happy you stood up to them! Congrats WhidbeyGirl, you finally got what you had full right to get! I am such a patient guy too, but dealing with these Visa people is the worst. I just want to yell at them too and tell them their stupid excuses are useless. They won't help you until you crack or beg for help. How inept, unthoughtful or caring can one be?

I wrote a letter to Obama, my Senator and Congressman complaining about these jerks. Everyone with these types of experience should too so they straighten their acts. Their job is to help us, not to abuse us.

My fiance also asked me to write a letter to Obama too but I'm not that brave. Did you send a regular letter or via White House website? Actually, after seeing a video on his site how much mail they receive daily and that he reads only 10 of them, I got discouraged. Did you get a response?

I sent a letter via whitehouse.gov website. A week later Obama called me up on my cell and wanted to hang out... I respectfully declined as he's not cool enough for me. Just kidding, I got a generic email response right away and nothing after that besides a bunch of emails regarding Obama's policies.

They probably sold my email address as well... I have been getting more junk emails lately. :)

He he :jest: I have sent many of those letters via the whitehouse.gov website too. All it gets me is those annoying emails about his policies......

Update:- The embassy received my fiance's DS-157 and the consulate completed their Admin Review. But now they have put it through for the standard security checks that supposedly everyone goes through (DOS/Washington, DC).

Visa Journey completed, but we are still here to provide support! :)

I hope so, but the fact that they say that they have just now sent his case for mandatory Admin Processing makes me sick...to think that it might take a whole 4 months longer or an extra long wait? Who knows...

You haven't heard anything new for your fiancee yet? What about initiating another senatorial/congressional inquiry?

I know, huh- who the hell knows.... did that make sense!!! ha

In my case, my Congressman's office has contacted the embassy (Bogota, Colombia) twice by email and also my Senator's office (Barbara Boxer here in Cal) once by email and they all got the same response as they give me when I call or email- "still in process and we will call her when we are ready to proceed." I think they are doing a lot of investigation on her, since she had many previous visits to the U.S. on a tourist visa and then they revoked that, when she tried to apply for one for her son to come visit- they shut down that request for him, but we never thought they would yank hers on the spot. I feel bad, because I told her to just go and ask for him and she ended up losing her tourist visa....

This information is for anyone who would like to know about the difference between AP and AR, at least for the US Embassy in London. I wrote to the Chief Consular Officer at the US Embassy in London a while back and today she replied to me via post. Her letter included information that my fiance was put on AR from the moment he was interviewed, the AR has been completed as of Sept 24, 09 and he has been put in mandatory AP since Sept 24, 09. AR at the US Embassy in London means that the consular interviewing was not satisfied with the applicant, so they take it on themselves to do investigations (such as the phone investigation in our case). Once they are done, they determine whether the applicant is approved or denied. If denied the file goes back to USCIS. If approved, it is put through the mandatory DOS/Washington D.C security/name check clearances that is routine for everyone and gets cleared within 48-72 hours for most and weeks, months, years for others. So my fiance's AR has been completed and he has been in AP since Sept 24, 09.

I am not sure if this is how all embassies work, but this is what was explained to me by the Chief Consular Officer herself at the US Embassy in London via post. Hope this information is useful for someone...
