I called EVERY single day including a few hours after the interview. I also emailed the embassy a couple of times a week. My philosophy, "The squeaky wheel gets the oil." I think especially with the embassy, since they have to print and put emails into the file, it kept my file on top. AND when I gave them two options for a second interview when I would be present they took one. I won't say it will work for everyone, but that's how things worked for me.

How do you know that they have to print all e-mails???

The embassy told me.

If that is the case they have maybe 6 or 7 emails from me since January 09 which they printed out but did not bother to reply to.

Hmmm Embassy in Dakar always responds in less than 24 hours to me. I don't know if all embassy's print out the emails but ours does.

Have you asked DOS if there is any documentation of the embassy receiving your emails? That's one thing I was told by DOS, "On such and such day they received an email from you" or "they responded to your email"

Hi WhidbeyGirl,

I called 1-202-663-1225 a few times but I am only able to get machines that give generic information and refer you to go to different websites. How do I get a hold of "Jessica" or other helpful Immigration Officers that can give me status of my case. Thanks.

Call that number then press 1 and then press 0, that will get you to an customer service person - hopefully Jessica :)

Thank you... what a suprise they hung up on me! It was some male, not Jessica. They asked me my case number for my k3 visa and they said she was never issued a visa (even though she entered the U.S. and lived 9 months here with it) and they hung up on me. How often do you guys get hung up on? I get hung up on within 30 seconds about 30% of the time in the middle of a sentence.

Every time I have spoken to Heinz (male DOS rep) he always hangs up right after saying "its processing". But otherwise, the rest listen to you and complete the conversation.

OK, for people that have gotten out of AP, please help me understand what is going on....

I called DOS again later today to ask whether the visa had been printed because it is not showing up on the courier tracking web page, and a different DOS rep (different from the one that told me earlier today that my fiance's visa has been issued) tells me that his case is still processing/pending. Then I told her about the conversation I had with the first rep (unfortunately I didn't get her name) and she told me then that was the wrong information, it has not been issued. And I was shocked, still am...this couldn't be a cruel joke on us, could it? And I know it is not a misunderstanding because she confirmed my name, my fiance's name, she even asked me, "he was interviewed on May 12, right?" and i said yes, and then she told me the visa has been issued and congratulated me IN GREAT DETAIL. So there is no way it could have been a mistake, I just don't understand what is going on...the second DOS rep took my phone # and said she would get back to me on why I was told that is is issued when it is NOT, and it is still pending. I can't believe this.

Uggghhhh... He is such an a!@. He hung up on me the other day. He didnt even ask what i needed. he just quickly said my fiance was in administrative processing and he hung up. I called right back and got him again. Before I gave him my case number I let him know I had questions and did not appreciate him hanging up on me. His tone then got a little nicer and he helped me until I was through.

Right now, we have no choice but to wait and pray that tomorrow my fiance gets the text from the courier in London that his visa is on its way. I don't know what to feel or think, it is all so upsetting and confusing. How can I be told so explicitly that it is issued, congrats, blah, blah, blah, and then on the same day a few hours later I am told its not issued, it is still processing....this whole process is MADDENING! I will post an update as soon as we know anything.

If it makes you feel better Im sure the info you received about the visa is the truth. I called one day and was told my husbands case had been sent back to USCIS and the next day I called back and was told that was incorrect the case was in AP after that I called back later the same day and was told the case was sent back which was indeed true I feel some people look at the first screen and just say AP and dont want to tell you any different after you confront them. I did learn to always get a name. Liz and Sarah were always helpful to me and to everyone on AP when they have something new they will tell you. 2 weeks prior to my husbands case being sent back they told me that the AP was almost complete. And to call back in a week and they would have good news for me A few days before the case was sent back they told me mmmmmmmmmm maybe you should contact your senator. I found that the older women were more helpful.

Thank you so much for your encouraging words and support. I just was shocked to be told that it is in AP, right after I had a full conversation about it being approved. I hope that it is really true that his visa has been issued. As soon as we find out, I will post here and let you know.

Fears confirmed: My fiance is still in AP.

I wish I could do something about that lying DOS rep...I don't know why she would tell me the visa is issued with all that flair if it really is not.

Anyway, back to the waiting game.

Things like this mess with your health....they should issue a Surgeon General's warning for DOS. But bottom line is that it is still in AP.

It's probably not done on purpose. I found a majority of these workers inept, impatient, unknowledgeable, uncaring, heartless, and rude. There really isn't much good to say about them. If they don't like their jobs then they should quit and do something else and stop treating us like dirt.

I am always expecting the worse when I call them, that helps me to not get so angry and frustrated.
