You're right... while our checks are going thru i don't think we hit a huge snag with my husbands name bcos its not so common... common enough im sure but not too bad... but my situation is due to the fact he is from pakistan and it seems pakistan has a tendancy to have longer AP's than other embassies...

The two congressional inquiries were replied to as normal ap... nothing additional etc...

6 months today and still nothing :( Inshallah some day my prince will come :(

when it comes to AP on top of other reasons for delay, its also luck. Few people with common names from Pakistan got out of AP within 4 months. The names that usually make AP long are Mohammed, Abdul, Ali and Khan. People with these names sometimes have to wait for several years to get out of AP. Eabbas, since your husband does not have any of these names his AP should finish within average AP time for Islamabad.

Looks like I won't be seeing my fiance for a long time, his name starts with Mohammad. :(

You never know... :) just think positive and hope for the best... there have been others with those names that don't take longer than 6 months...

my husband doesn't have a common name (his is Adil) but we're stuck at 6 months... :( all we can do is pray, love our spouses and live as normal a life as possible with the cam as our way of having them in our lives on a daily basis...

hang in there.. we're all here with u!!

I pray your right but as of right now its a total of 6 months... pending, stuck, stagnant... u name it :(

Everyone who are on AP like me , wishing you a very Merry Christmas. I hope you guys are finding a way to comfort yourself in this holidays without your loved ones with you :(. I have a question, so I have called the DOS three different days and of course I got a hold of three different human. And surprisingly, I got different answers each time. One of the operator told me, the case never comes to the US, the other one told me, everything is American side is done and the case is back to the embassy and it is up to the embassy to make a decision, third time - it is still in AP and it shows under AP until a visa is issued. So how true is any of these statement? I don't know. They confuse my head and it is like a up and down game.

Anybody having this super efficient experience with DOS?

Ive been calling since june and keeping impeccable notes as to what each person says. Basically you got good info its just piecing it together. The file NEVER does leave the embassy but the information is sent to Washington and it sounds like all the checks from washington are done and they are still working on it until they can issue the visa.

We've been told the last several weeks that we are at the embassy and they are working on it to make a decision but its still ap.. for us personally bcos we are from pakistan it may take even longer but it sounds like yours wont be that much more time.

Wish you luck and a blessed holiday season!!!

Thanks for the quick note. We are from Bangladesh but hubby is in the UK. So at this point I have no idea how long the embassy will take to come up with a decision. However, I have seen somewhere in the AP thread that DOS will tell you if the AP is done, I guess it only applies when a visa gets issued.

I am praying for all of us and iA we will get out of this brutal journey pretty soon.

Has anyone had a DOS officer suggest Humanitarian Parole? I talked to a really nice lady today (the first one who didn't yell at me when I started crying) and she suggested I look into Humanitarian Parole. From the little research I've done, it seems like this is just a temporary solution that would bring the beneficiary here for a limited amount of time, until the pending crisis in their home country is over -- does anyone know if you can do AOS if you're here on Humanitarian Parole?

Hi Maya84, My husband has been in AP for 14 long months. There is finally some movement on our case. The embassy did a field investigation on him a week or so ago and now the embassy has sent an email to my congressman saying they will look at our case to see why it is taking so long.

We are very excited and hope that our case will be finished very soon.
