I had promised myself I wouldn't ask DOS anymore questions cause I never get a straight answer. I'm always confused after asking questions to them but it would be great to find out if FBI checks are done.

Wish we could get info like you could a couple of years ago... even calling FBI you could do back then but not now... its all just a waiting game now and thats really unfair to all of us!!!

I know how you feel Eabbas. I really hope your husband gets visa soon. I am so disappointed, the embassy told us two times already that security clearance was done, yet our AP is not coming to an end. The process is very stressful and mind wrecking. I read in an article yesterday that when name hit is repeating after too many clearances from Washington then the consular officer can use his judgement to issue visa. I am hoping that our name check issue gets resolved soon.

I am planing to join my husband for unlimited period in January until he receives visa. It is very tough since I have to leave my child behind to go live with my husband.

I understand we just passed our 5 month mark... its hard lonely depressing wanting to live a life with your spouse and not being able to.. all i can do is break down n cry and then hold my head up again ... praying this will end soon and the pain and suffering of all of us will be gone!

RealAl... any news on your situation? Ive been thinking of you a lot and praying for you!

It shouldn't be this way.. you shouldnt have to make a choice like this.. its really sad and heartbreaking... I too have children from my first marriage and legally you cant take them but you cant leave them so for now this was our only option.. when they are older we may decide to do somthing different.

We were just placed into AP today, and I know that it a long, difficult waiting game, but inshallah it is the last step of the process. So try to stay optimistic! They should include AP stats on the timeline tracker just like they do for petition approval times.

For anyone who has received a visa recently, how long was your AP? Our case is going through Jordan, so I am hoping for 3 months or less, but more realistically, 5 months or less!

K1 Fiance Visa Process
3/30/2011: I-129F sent
4/5/2011: NOA1 received from VSC
7/11/2011: consular services in Damascus suspended
8/3/2011: NOA2 received online via USCIS website
8/5/2011: NOA2 hard copy received
8/8/2011: transfer requests sent to Beirut, Ankara and Amman consulates

The posts i've seen regarding Jordan AP doesn't seem to be as lengthy as the ones going thru Islamabad.. im sure you will get the visa in much shorter time wishing you the best of luck!!!!!

To my brothers and sisters who have been waiting so patiently for so long, the best solace that I have found is in my deen. Check out this blog post on Islamic World regarding being patient and coming through difficult times: "Verily, after hardship comes ease"

EAbbas: Thanks for your words of encouragement. Its hard to tell how quickly it will go considering that my fiance's country is about to break into civil war, so that might cause even longer security and name checks (sadly enough). But we are staying optimistic! I hope your case moves along!

Hi Everyone,

I have been reading this thread ever since my husband was put on AP on the 6th of December at London Embassy. It has been a really tough week and ofcourse not knowing the nature of it made us hope that it just a quicky check thing and will be over in a couple of days. However, I don't feel so bad seeing that there are many others in my situation. I pray for all of us everytime I think about this AP thing. I understand what you all are going through. My husband and I both are originally from Bangladesh and my husband does not have a common name. I wish we knew why he was put in AP. Nothing was said. Called DOS pretty much everyday - same answer - pending.

Glad we can talk about this and share our feelings here.

iA it will be over someday very soon. Keep praying.

Hi Maya, I am originally from Bangladesh too. My husband is from Pakistan, but we are processing at the US embassy in Riyadh Saudi Arabia since my husband is working there. He has been on AP since August 9 this year. My husband has a common name, I call DOS once a week and keep getting the same answer "Pending". I hope your AP will be much shorter since your husband does not have a common name.

Hi!

I am glad to find you here. I am not sure if the embassy matters too as far as processing time because he lives in the UK and had his interview in London. Are you living in the states currently? I hope your AP ends soon as well inshAllah. Keep you in my prayers and hope we can all keep patience and be optimistic in this difficult time.

Take care

Yes, I am currently in the US. R u in the US? We thought he wud be able to get here by the end of the year. But unfortunately he is still in AP. You are right, duration of AP depends on the embassy to some extend, but it also depends on the kind of name you have and where you are from. Please keep me posted about the progress on your case.

You're right... while our checks are going thru i don't think we hit a huge snag with my husbands name bcos its not so common... common enough im sure but not too bad... but my situation is due to the fact he is from pakistan and it seems pakistan has a tendancy to have longer AP's than other embassies...

The two congressional inquiries were replied to as normal ap... nothing additional etc...

6 months today and still nothing :( Inshallah some day my prince will come :(
