I never had any luck with Chris but can you imagine having to listen to people like us all day..... desperate and hanging on to every little word of hope they say LOL they have the power to make or ruin or day/week

Yeah im sure it sucks to listen to us whine. My lawyers sent me an email asking me to send him a email as to why they might think he has suspected of terriorist activities. wth i guess they remember nothing of my panicked calls after they questioned us at our interview about someone calling and threatening the embassey.why the heck would Alen threaten the embassey of the country he is tryin to immigrate to.im just sick to my stomach.

Bridget my husband says depending on what part of Iraq he is from and and his family name it is probably a big mistake. Have faith in the one you love and hopefully all this will be cleared up. Stay strong

Hi guys,

Thinking bout you guys and hoping you all get good news soon. We have the visa in-hand--thank god! He plans to travel on the 17th and arrive on the 18th (same day as whatznext interview).

I am still worries and feel th embassy could call at anytime and say "oh we forgot to do this or that." The day he went to go pick up his visa it took 3 hours and they had told him it would take 10mins. I was sick t my stomach and thought somthin serious had gone wrong....like him being arrested or something. I kept remembering bridget & allens story.

Anyway---everyone just have faith!!!!

Hi Melody--no offense taken. : ) I know what you mean--when I said "have faith" I mean it in a general term not just religious. Faith in your love, in your self-strength and faith that this will be over way one way or another. IDK! I would just think---this is how it's suppopsed to be--its in the stars for my life right now and I have to learn and grow from it. And, that would help me.

Okay so UPDATE--- UPDATE!!!

I was traveling this week and on the plane I was sitting down next to a guy who used to work for the DEPT. OF HOMELAND SECURITY!

He was actually a contract worker for them but he used to get all the paperwork for the background checks. He basically said, after 9/11 there were major changes. One of the main reasons was prior to 9/11, the US would allow 10 people out and 10 people in--the ratio of immigrants. HOwever, post 9/11 U.S would allow 1 person in for every 8 that left the U.S.---as a result a lot of people who did background checks were sent out to the community to do investigations and limited people were doing background checks (hence the huge delay).

He said when they would get to a file---it would take a long time--he could get a file that was one inch thick or several boxes. And, he had to manually go through each piece of paper and look for anything that didn't match---name, date of birth, ssn, etc.

They would then plug in every single way the name was written with dob, ssn into several world wide name data systems.

He said then immigration would be looked at the whole family not just the beneficiary and sponsor.

He no longer works there he was laid off as they slowed down the rates of people coming in. But, he said they are so detailed it is maddening.

love out to all!!!!

I know what you mean Melody and I will attend the funeral with you. My now spouse finally got his visa after 17 months of AP and then he waited two months to come here. I was ready to kill him. Just remember there are a lot of loose ends to tie up back home as he is making a major life change.

Oh and remind him he can return home for a visit to finish tying up those loose ends and to reassure his family that the US is not the great Satan and he will be ok here.

I agree with all of you... but Sept 4th?? is he freaking serious? And he hasnt even really booked the ticket yet... he said that he has 'tenitively' booked the ticket for the 4th of September...This is only after he told me that the reason why he has not got the ticket was because he was waiting to get a 'free' ticket... this freaking "free" ticket was from some shady character... that I so happened to freak out on him about the other night... He claims that it isnt money that is an issue.<yea right, its more like Male pride> But that he is just searching for the "best deal" OMG!!!!

OOOOOOOO yea right... loose ends... he has loose ends... try peeing on the india/china border as part of him 'tying' up loose ends... I could understand if he was visting his sister and new baby in calcutta... but hanging out with his school chums... come on now he is just hurting my feelings... The icing on the cake is that yes he will see his sister.. this is an after thought on the way back through Calcutta as he is traveling somewhere else... And as far as tying up loose ends... what happend to the passt 2 months of AP?? Couldnt he be freaking peeing on places in these 2 months?? I mean coooome oooon...

Anyways I know I am a little dramatic... but I told him today after he told me that he had 'tenitively' booked his ticket that I was not calling him back and he better not contact me until he was at the airport. And there might of been some ranting by me as I said something like I was going to personally shove his visa up his A$$ if he wasnt here in a timely manner... But hey! I cant honestly remember All my rants

Oh and remind him he can return home for a visit to finish tying up those loose ends and to reassure his family that the US is not the great Satan and he will be ok here.

I will remind him that if he feels the urge to pee anywhere that he could always spend the money to go back and do this... that he doesnt have to pee on every rock before he leaves India... he damn near is acting like he will never return... When in reality we are planning on living there in just a few years!!!

Melody just remember he his telling his family good bye and it is a big step and a scary one I know if and when my husband gets his visa it will take him at least 3 weeks to prepare to come I know I want him here the next day but.... he has things to do. LOL men think different than we do.

WhatzNext I could totally understand that it might take 3 weeks... but 5+ weeks to pee on stumps is not acceptable in my standards... I wasnt thinkin that he would of been here the day after the visa.. I was thinking like the 18th of Aug... I can find all kids of tickets the plane is not booked... I can understand that he might be scared to come... but atleast he has me... the first time that we met I flew to India without ever seeing him in person... and stayed with him almost 3 months.... now tell me that isnt freaking scarey and I have been back twice since then and even took my mother on this last trip... So IMO he can kiss his freaking nerves goodbye and get on the freaking plane and come to AMerica!!!

on a serious note though congratulations on the visa! even if it takes a few more weeks, now you will be together :-) best of luck for a long and happy life together :-)
