So i dont know if its a girl thing or just an us thing but i too am a control freak. AP is a just a way to say HA HA you cant do anything, which i personally think sucks. Anywayz tho, so im sure like many others Monday is just another day to contact DOS. Well, I did and I'm telling you guys DOS is a big joke. I mean I know I have said this sooooo many times before but they are like no help. still just pending AP. thats all i hear from them.

well last month i contacted my senator and asked him for help. well, the only advice i have for people is if you are in AP dont waste your time becasue they will truly do nothing for you. all they will do is email the embassy, wait for a response (which im sure is generic like the rest of their emails),than send u the later they received from the embassy. Im truly not trying to discourage anyone, and im sorry if it seems like that, im just sharing my experience with this bc i know alot of people think hey my congress person should be able to do something since they do work for the U.S. I have typed up the letter i received from them for anyone who's interested in reading it. If anyone has ever received a letter like that or maybe wants to share their opinions or thoughts about it, i'm all ears. I kinda thought it was depressing, but.... hey that's me. lol. well here ya go guys..

dear senator XXXXX,

i am writng in response to your email dated june 16, 2010, regarding the immigrant visa application of mr. XXXXXXXXX.

mr. XXXXXXX visa application continues to pend administrative processing. despite our efforts to complete processing of this application, it is nevertheless not yet complete. we are unable to proceed with mr. XXXXXX visa appliaction until the administrative processing is complete.

while i wish that i could provide a more positive response, i hope this information is nonetheless helpful. as soon as XXXXXXX visa is ready for issuance, we will contact him directly

should XXXXXX require further assistance or request information about the status of his case, he may contact our office directly by email at jerusalemiva@state.gov.

sincerely,

XXXXXXXX

acting visa chief

I got similar letter earlier this year.. The senators and congressmen can only do an inquiry (ask questions).. they cant make anyone do anything as that is illegal... in some cases just having someone ask about the case is enough for the CO or whomever has the file, to say OMG get this thing off of my desk... not likely when a case is in AP...

I was tight with my congressional liason.. but after months of him getting the same copy paste BS response from the consulate.. he is tired of seeing me and done sending inquiries on our behalf for a while..

There isnt anything anyone can do if a case is undergoing DC namechecks.... if the case is going through consular checks that is a little different at times and can be affected by the USC showing up at the consulate asking questions... but not always the case since I did fly around the world only to be told "the CO does not have time to talk with you"

So I emailed the embassy tonight... this is only the second time that I have emailed them... I am so nervous though... I know that we are just a bunch of ppl on here... and everyone has there opinion... but what does everyone think about contacting the embassy... do you think that they would deny a visa because you called them too much? This is what someone else had told in a post about AP... I really dont see how they would deny you because you called them.. I would think that the opisite would be true and that if you didnt call them and you didnt want to rock the boat then they would think why isnt this person like desperate to be with there spouse.... uuugh or are they like why is this person calling all the time they must be desperate to get to America.... #######... it could go in either direction really... I think I have started talking to myself

Hey Melody if you havent contacted the embassy it may work in your favor to contact them or it may not. Like the thing is it truly depends on your guys embassy. I know that my embassy will just send us back a generic response, but maybe urs is better. Plus if it calms ur nerves go ahead. The worse that can happen is they tell u the same as DOS, case still in AP.

Also, yea I am preggo, 6 months to be precise. I'm due October 26. It's our first child which is why this AP is absolutely killing me. Like I cant imagine having the baby and him not being here. It's kinda not fair. The worse part is like the embassy doesnt care. I feel as if my husband and I have served our AP alredy I mean its been a year, what else do they want to look at it I dont get it. I totally understand your despair, you just want your husband home and I'm on that same boat. Now after getting the letter from my senator I'm just kinda disappointed bc like it shows absolutely nothing positive happeneing anytime soon. I hope your case goes way quicked than mine has been.

I definitely agree with you that it cant make them do anything illegal for me but in all honesty im just looking for answers like I know that my case is in AP thats not what I wanted to know, I wanted to know why. Why is it currently in AP after so long. So Scott my question for you is do you know if there is a time length a case can stay in DC namechecks. I mean my case has been in this AP for like 9-12 months really not sure but both are still long periods of time. Whenever I inquire myself its always "pending AP". Does the pending part mean anything? Sorry im kinda picking your brain, it sounds like you're getting familiar with the unforunate process so u may have a logical answer.

no cap in the length of time in DC checks as the file can get tossed from one agency to another to get several checks done... alot has to do with the name of the applicant and country... it has taken some far longer than a year... but over a year is not a normal timeframe... it sucks that the case got pulled like it did but this is one aspect of the system we have... but IMO there is no excuse for them to take this long..

Hey MQ, yea I finally found it. sorry again, i have pregnancy brain so it makes me kinda forgetful sometimes. lol. lemme just tell u tho, i still havent received a response from them so I dont know if they got it, but the number went through so maybe they are beinng big meanies about it or just plain lazy. It worked last time i sent it so maybe you'll have better luck with it. the number is 01197226259270. the 011 part is bc we're from here so if ur sending it u need to include that, if its him it would be the rest of the number without 011. good luck with it, inshallah they contact u. oh also, today when i called dos they said they had updated my new number which i included in the fax, so maybe they did and just dont want to reply bc they feel like im bothering them lol. i dunno. anywayz good luck hun.

I don't think they would deny you for inquiring about your case but Ukraine has their own rules and on the website it states if you email them and take up their time it delays time for working on cases also they will only respond to one you or the senator

In general, they do not give any reason for AP. I believe and trust me this long AP is not based on anything rather than being from the Middle east, an Arab and Muslim. Checking my history does not need years to be cleared. Most of Palestinians, male, that I know went through a long time AP. Ironically, Last month I applied for a visa to England, and I just got a multi entry 6 months visa within 30 days, but for the USA takes ages. I believe they put our files aside waiting someone to decide to check them out. Anyway, At least me and my wife have been living in Palestine more than 3 years, but feeling unstable most of time.

Hey MQ, my husband is from Jenin. Its a village an hour and half away from ramallah. Wheres your hubby from? Also, my husband's record is pretty clean too. Never been locked up, or in trouble with the jews either. The only thing I can think of is maybe becasue he travelled a lil before marrying me and maybe bc he works for the Prez of Palestine but otherwise, I am clueless. Also, his name isnt that common its Ayoub. Ugh, i guess they just wanna torture me.

Welcome back Rami- Becky! I'm sorry to hear that you're still in AP, man 15 months thats ridiculous. Have they at least let you know why you're still in AP? For me im catching up to you to and i hear nothing at all except pending. Since you havent been here in a while, maybe you can fill us in on whats been going on in the 15 months. ;)
